The car is in the garage now, so not much for me to check at this moment. The man in the garage said he has a test socket for the towing electrics, so I suppose they can quickly see if it is wired correctly.
I took the manual of the towing electrics I installed and I have one color different !!
2a = blue/black
But it must be ok because there is no blue/white wire.
Also the 13-7 pin socket is in the car, do you also have a wiring diagram of that?
The 7 pin trailer connection I can check, but I suppose there it's normal to have some wirings together because not enough pins. The bike rack I've put in the car so they can use it for tests if they want, so can't check these connections at the moment.2017-...: Disco II Td5 auto, 1999, BAS remap, HD TC and auto box Ashcroft, Allisport IC, ACE, 2" lift only coils, BF goodrich KM2 265/70R17, FF front and rear bumper, TF steering guard and tree sliders, nanocom.

Just out of curiosity, what are the partnumber for the brake switch? And I guess it is the same for both LH and RH steering vehicles..?
I also have been looking for the resistor to the heater blower.. but cant seem to find the partnumber on this either..
Many thanks for help !
PS: Will buy 2 brake switch just to have one in spare:), seems like a good investment!

Got a phonecall from the garage this afternoon to pick up my Disco, they didn't find anything ....
So the car is back home, done 150km without any error. Should I be happy, I don't know.
This was the 4th time in 3 weeks the Disco is in the garage because it goes into limp mode with all kind of errors. Every time the garage tells me the car is fine, no errors. Except once they tried to sell me a HPFP for 2600€. So the D3 has been 4 times in the garage and only a fuel filter has been replaced, it didn't help.
I'll have to find out myself what's wrong with it.
As you can read in previous posts I'm suspecting the towing electrics. I'm quite sure it is well connected because all lights work including reverse light on the 13pin connection. I had erros on the trailer as wel as on the bike rack, so this can(?) eliminate a problem in the trailer or the bike rack and turns back to the car.
Today I found maybe a cause: because I do some off roading with the Disco (what includes wading) and opened quite some towing sockets before and they were all very corroded inside. I decided to fill the back side of the towing socket completely with silicone. On the internet I found today that silicone can conduct electricity, not allways and also not much, but it can. I found stories with problems when people filled op sensors with silicone to avoid water intrusion and suddely these sensors gave wrong measurements.
After a lot of reading here on the forum I noticed that some connections, especially the brake lights/switch/lines are very sensitive, so this maybe little miserable tine bit of electricity could set a voltage on the wrong pin and give strange situations at some ecu, can bus, computer, sensor, .... whatever.
Is that a possibility or am I delirious?
If yes, I'll cut off the towing socket and put a new one on. Any suggestions to keep (especially back side) free of corrosion? Oil, grease, contact spray, paint?2017-...: Disco II Td5 auto, 1999, BAS remap, HD TC and auto box Ashcroft, Allisport IC, ACE, 2" lift only coils, BF goodrich KM2 265/70R17, FF front and rear bumper, TF steering guard and tree sliders, nanocom.

As the electrics just plug in... LH rear cubby, i would unplug them and run it round see if it reoccurs.... Or alternatively keep it plugged in and attach a trailer board and place in the boot... See if causes a fault...If it ain't broke... Take it apart anyway, how else you gonna find out how it works

Did some more tests today.
Put the hose on the car's socket, then plugged in the bike rack and took her for a drive. Quickly I got an "engine system fault", not as bad as the previous ones, I could keep driving, just a message "special programs off", but I was happy with any error I got!
Read the error afterwards and it was a P0101 Mass flow sensor.
Changed the brake switch again to the new one (did put the old one back for testing), but no more error with the new switch. I've had errors before with the new switch so not really happy with that. Had someone else driving the car with me in the back jiggling the towing socket during driving, still no error.
Will keep the bike rack on for a while, try not to do big trips with the car and hope I get more errors. Then unplug the towing electrics completly as Grunders suggested and hope the errors stay out then.2017-...: Disco II Td5 auto, 1999, BAS remap, HD TC and auto box Ashcroft, Allisport IC, ACE, 2" lift only coils, BF goodrich KM2 265/70R17, FF front and rear bumper, TF steering guard and tree sliders, nanocom.

This sounds incredibly similar to the problems I'm having! I don't have any reason to suspect the towing elecs though. I'm now waiting for my car to be repatriated from France, so have 3 weeks to gather info! Please, please keep the thread updated and good luck with finding a fix. David.

Maybe brake switch? Why not the towing electrics? It could also influence the voltage on your brake line without something that's is connected to it. I'm still thinking on something with the brake line. Maybe it gets worse when there is a trailer or similar connected. I'm driving with the new switch now but still with the bike rack and the silicone in the towing electrics. Havn't had errors today.2017-...: Disco II Td5 auto, 1999, BAS remap, HD TC and auto box Ashcroft, Allisport IC, ACE, 2" lift only coils, BF goodrich KM2 265/70R17, FF front and rear bumper, TF steering guard and tree sliders, nanocom.

Does anybody know how the trailer detection works? Maybe mine has a false detection or not a steady detection?2017-...: Disco II Td5 auto, 1999, BAS remap, HD TC and auto box Ashcroft, Allisport IC, ACE, 2" lift only coils, BF goodrich KM2 265/70R17, FF front and rear bumper, TF steering guard and tree sliders, nanocom.

Got 4 'Engine system fault's in the last couple of days. That's enough for me to conclude the error is reoccurring. Now going to remove the bike rack and completely disconnect the towing electrics. If there will be no errors in the next week, the towing socket will be cut off and a new one comes in place and I'll start a new test with the bike rack....2017-...: Disco II Td5 auto, 1999, BAS remap, HD TC and auto box Ashcroft, Allisport IC, ACE, 2" lift only coils, BF goodrich KM2 265/70R17, FF front and rear bumper, TF steering guard and tree sliders, nanocom.

I'm just horrified by this thread. It's insane that a luxury offroader can be totally incapacitated by something as mundane as a brake switch or towing electrics. Madness.
I had a D3 for 5 years and was looking forward to re-joining the fold when the new new Discovery range launches.
Not sure I'll bother now.
