static/manual front wheel alignment/measurement
I am replacing the lower front arms. Not replacing the upper arms and touching the stabilizer linkage.
I tried to mark the bushing fittings washers but I want to be able to adjust manually the front lower arms, before taking the car to the alignment workshop.
I have seen the machine readings in ° from the previous posts but I I would like to know
the measurement of the toe in millimeters, comparing the distances between the front and rear sections of the front rims.

Was it put into Tight Tolerance Mode ?
I've read numerous threads about realignment and it seems that this needs to be done or it goes back out again.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I asked what diagnostics he used and enquired about TT ....he uses Snap-on and Bosch diagnostic systems and confirmed he had understanding of TT ....I had no way of confirming whether it was done in TT mode as I had a meeting while it was being done.....might be interesting to nip back in a couple of months for a quick check "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Without looking it up, I can't remember exactly what TT does.
My D3 was realigned twice, both by main dealers. One who had the kit to do it in house and the other one took it to a local place. Both times it was perfect, with tyres wearing evenly etc.
I'd like to know the definitive answer as to what exactly needs doing and what machinery should be used etc.
Prices seem to vary considerably as well.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

TT will instill Obsessive Compulsive Disorder into the EAS ECU. Basically it will cause it to make micro adjustments to maintain the correct height level at all corners. IIRC the tolerance in normal mode is around 9mm. Basically if the height at a particular corner is meant to be 465mm and it currently is 456mm, the EAS will pump up that corner till it gets to 465. If it currently is 457mm it won't do anything.
In TT mode, the tolerance is around 3mm. So the EAS will only "not do anything" between 462 and 468mm.
Basically, with the car in TT mode, you have a better chance of getting the alignment 100% perfect. Without TT mode, you might still be lucky, but you might not. If one corner is at 457mm and one is at 473mm, things will be slightly off....
In any case, without TT mode, you will still align the car, and it will most probably drive much better than before, but it might not be 100%... maybe 95% perfect.Dennis

Just had mine done using the Hunter system as I was getting a lot of road noise on the motorway and tyre scrubbing on the inside of one of the rears, so took your advice and found the place off the align my car website local to me, he had to adjust front and rear tracking, was in there about 45 mins and was charged £120 plus vat 😳
But I suppose it's cheaper than 4 tyres !!
Cheers

That was basically my thoughts....it should help with even tyre wear, and hopefully they will last longer.....£120+VAT though ......it does prove an earlier point about how much prices vary "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Euan ,
I was talking to the owner and he was saying it cost him nearly 40k to put the ramp and Hunter system in so you have got to say he needs to recoup his money from the investment !
You could have the basic check for £49 and after the results decide whether to have the geometry reset and dependant on what adjustments where required dictated what you paid, which to be truthfully is fair enough.
Just need another GG AT to replace the bald one off the rear MY18 D5 HSE LUX😎
