Tdv6 discs and pads, and Brembo discs and pads...

I'm sure you can see the difference.

I have just upgraded buying the front and rear V8 kit of Advanced factors.

What a difference is all I can say. We live in a very hilly area climbing daily up and down from 30m asl to 300 asl.

We tow our daughters ponies 3 times a week in the area and I had severe brake fade at times culminating in a warped disc.

That aside, the difference is immense. Personal taste, but when stopping and especially with a trailer on my family is now much safer than on the standards discs.

Incidentally, my old brakes were serviced by Bodsy a few months ago and there is still plenty of meat on them, they just were not up to what we required.

Go V8 upgrades is my suggestion when you can

Am I right in thinking that the V8 upgrade from AF uses the standard calipers that are already on the car?

Calipers are the same. Thumbs Up
Pads are the same. Thumbs Up
Caliper carriers are different.
Discs are different.

Thinking of doing this on my next service (already been pre-warned that the pads and discs will need doing at the next service), so that would be a good time to swap them over, however does this upgrade affect the HDC??, or does the HDC compensate for the more powerful brakes?? Also does it affect the traction control, when the car automatically applies the brakes to push the drive to the non spinning wheel, or again does the traction control compensate for all of this??
I understand that all we are doing is up-grading to the V8 brakes, but wonder if there are any changes to the car software??
Best wishes to all

To sum it up in my experience.

Original brakes were ok if pressed hard enough

V8 brAkes less effort required to do same job

brembos, jus pure brake porn, but only got to have a gentle foot for A windscreen kiss Mr. Green

Thank you all for the interesting replys , I would have brembos by choice i love them on a car they look ok but a set of

now that sexy! i was just interested in peoples thoughts it really does seem to come down to feel and lack of fade , the bottom line is it actually deosnt appear to impact emergency stop distances in normal driving. As i said money aside I would have brembos , but then i love watches , chrome and other bling Smile

thx again

Disagree; they do materially improve the emergency stop distance as the regular D3 TDV6 brakes are incapable of operating at the limit of friction throughout an emergency stop in situations that could easily be described as 'normal'.

There has been a couple of times, i've had to call on the full fury of the standard set up and found them severely lacking.
One was a guy pulling out into lane 2 with no indicator or prior warning, the speed difference was 30+ and i was convinced i was going to take him and the car he wanted to overtake out.

The Brembo set up has been tested from high speeds and is night and day to the standard set up.
I needed to replace a standard caliper when i was renewing the brakes anyway so the cost to upgrade to Brembo's for me was not very much over getting a new caliper and better V8 disc's and carriers.
