Hi Chris,
Our hitch is not supplied with a tongue, you will need to specify the type that you require if you want us to supply.
The hitch is rated to 3500kg.
The receiver will accept any 50mm square tongue. You will see in the pictures on page 13 the GENUINE D2 tongue in the receiver.

Hi Aaron,
When will we know if the new hitch will fit with the Kaymar rear bar and tyre carrier? Hi Will,
I had Haggis here on Saturday and we trial fitted the hitch.
Unfortunately the hitch doesn't bolt straight up, the Kaymar bar needs some minor mods to make it fit. The Kaymar bar will need to be notched by approx 5mm to allow the hitch to slide into the OE recovery point and the bottom edge of the Kaymar bar needs to be slightly bent up to allow the 2 lower mount holes of the hitch to bolt into place. It is so close to fitting and they look like they are meant to be together.
I am approaching Kaymar to change the design of their bar to suit our tow hitch, hopefully they are open to my ideas!!
I will have some more info soon.

As Aaron has indicated I was around at Mitchell Bros last Saturday to try out the hitch with the TVan and Kaymar bar (I also have a LRA Aux tank). The tank won't be a problem, and the TVan will ride at a more appropriate angle (level).
But the Kaymar bar will need some enlarging of the hole around the trailer sockets/recovery eye to accommodate the hitch. On my Kaymar bar (mine is a very early one and I know there have been some slight changes), the hole is not deep enough (in the vertical) to accommodate the parts of the hitch that connect to the recovery eye. The fix is very simple and will require <5mm of material removed from the top and bottom of the hole, and only for just ~60mm in the centre of the hole.
I have a twin wheel setup and it looks like the Mitchell Bros bar will sit low enough and close enough to the Kaymar bar to allow uninhibited access to the handles to swing out the wheel carriers. Once fitted it will also allow the tail gate to drop with the shortest no drop tongue available and the vehicle end of an AT35 hitch.
Lastly it (the new towbar) will sit almost flush to the Kaymar bar as opposed to slightly rearward of the standard plastic LR bar. It will look like it is supposed to be there.
Bottom line - it won't be ready soon enough.
Regards

Thanks Haggis,
Looks as though I will finally get around to hooking up the van and finding out what the D3 is all about when towing.
Looking forward to having the rig all set up again. Kaymar rear bar and tyre carrier; Safari Snorkel: ARB under-bonnet compressor; LRA fuel tank; Winch, bullbar; Cibie Super Oscars; Rhino Platform Roof Rack, Reversing camera; Traxide auxiliary battery system, 17" rims - Cooper ST.

Hi,
Is it possible to have pictures of the hitch disassembled ? I don't understand how the hitch is fixed to the recovery eye.
The hitch just tightens the recevovery eye ?
Thanks.

The hitch is secured to the recovery eye via a hard nylon taper lock system which is basically a tapered male and tapered female part, the female part is almost the internal size of the recovery eye and approx 30mm wide, when the male slides into the female and a load is applied to either side via the main 1/2 inch bolt the male part stretches the female open and therefore locks into the standard recovery eye.
Know what I mean??

I have seen the parts.
He has had to re-muafacture some parts to to supplier problems but thay are all there and will be assembled next week.
My D3 goes in for fitting, checking and adusting of the hitch before the maufacture run.
Also seeing if PDC sensors can be adjusted for the hitch in place.
Aaron has worked hard in this and barring more unforseen problems should be off the production line soon.
I am would not blame him for wondering why he listened to me now. It has been more work than he expected to get to this point. Thanks Aaron
I am sure he will keep you posted but wait until he has a number complete and ready before expecting delivery date. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Oh I should have read this post before sending an email to Aaron to find out the status.
If you read this Aaron don't worry about replying to my email just let us know when you reckon production units can start to ship.
Please let it be by next week, pretty please.
Thanks Aaron for putting in such an effort to get this off the ground.

Hi All,
As you've heard from previous posts, we have had some difficulties with our suppliers supplying unsatisfactory products.
We have 90% of all components in stock and are assembling what we have, as we speak.
Sincere apologies to all those wonderfully trusting people who have outlaid monies to secure their hitch.
We will keep everyone up to speed when there are new developments.

Well it would have been great to have got a new hitch before we go away at Christmas, but we're not going off road then, so the standard one will do. Hopefully we'll see them in the New Year.
Keep up the good work Aaron.
