well I didn't buy it.

I just couldn't trust them.

I bought a 55 HSE from the main dealer up the road that they'd just taken as trade in. 13k, 72 thousand miles and it's in fine fettle. They're giving it the cambelt service for me as well and updating its sat nav disc!

Its only problem is that it doesn't have a towbar so I'll have to buy one. But that means it hasn't done any towing!

Boom!

worth asking the dealer to quickly fit a removable tow bar from another vehicle JUST to check if it waggles left and right when fitted but make sure you're present when they do it.......whilst it might not have a tow bar fitted, it may have been towing in the past and a number of us have suffered or are suffering evidence of the rear cross member failure where the tow bar fits in to it but shows symptom's of play Shocked

Thanks

It's never towed, i've spoken with its one previous owner. It was a weekend luxury vehicle for going to sunday lunch, watching the kids play rugby that kind of thing. They didn't get a towbar with it when they bought it. It has the electrics there of course, but no bar. The paint on the fitment shows no sign of a bar being fitted and behind the panel its as clean as a whistle.

Hi Abi,

Tow bars and the relevant electrics.
As a farmer you will know that not all hitches are the same height! Go for the adjustable one, not removable version but the adjustable one In practice you won't hit your shins on the ball as the lower tailgate comes out to far, but be careful when just opening the upper as you can bash your shin!

Electrics, go for the 'real' Land Rover kit as it is just a plug in the nearside rear cubby hole, then visit either your local main dealer OR your local LR specialist, he will be your friend from now on, and get him/them to turn the tow electrics on in the Car Configuration Files. Anybody with a multi vehicle Faultmate can do it as well. It really is 'plug and play' then!
As it is an HSE it will have rear parking sensors, when the tow electrics are turned on these are disabled when towing, leaving the front ones functional, if it has them. All clever stuff.

Welcome to a brilliant vehicle that makes off roading a armchair experience. I'm sure you'll drive it round all your fields trying to get it stuck! You'll be amazed how hard it is to do that.

Best

Ian

Pleasure!

Abi,
Definately agree with Ian re the land rover genuine electric towing pack.... The quality is excellent and the wires are sealed into the sockets with epoxy resin so no dodgy connections or corrosion in the connectors... They are about £90 for the pair and the looms come ready with the retaining clips to insert into the chassis and body and correct size grommets where they go through into the boot area. It really is plug and play!
Enjoy the Disco... They are great cars!
