Basically, although they fit, RRS wheels and tyres are not necessarily of the same load rating as those originally fitted to the D3.
In addition, the RRS uses tyres of a different profile (sidewall height) which is wrong for a D3.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Welcome to the D3 world!
Haha, well I've been looking for one for a while actually and seen some that have then been snapped up by other people and I've been disappointed. So I've got a deposit on this and subject to the morning's second inspection and me sleeping on it overnight I'll be having it.
the deposit is to hold it and it's refundable. So it's not too late to bail! haha

It's got the phone kit (cradle, probably) - see buttons on RHS of steering wheel.
Ah yes, didn't notice that. Well spotted, Sherlock.
The Nokia cradle kit can go in the bin, mind.
The S is a most underrated spec. Looks like a good buy. Welcome, Abi.

Check the tyres are the correct size and load rating for the D3, as they are RRS wheels.
Its got those cheap accelera tyres. I had 2 off them and didnt think much of them and they didnt last any time.
Other than that the car looks lovely.
Hope you enjoy it

Abi,
Looks lovely and clean and not an abused article..... Welcome to the forum....more importantly you now know where to turn for any advice or issues you may face in the future...they are brilliant cars and the most perfect all rounder....good timing as well... ready for the snows,
Re the load rating this relates to the strength of the wheels and the weight they can bear...personally providing you're not towing huge weights over incredibly rocky ground I'm sure they will be okay....far better having Land rover ones than cheapy Chinese alloys that I see on discos all the time...
Just enjoy!

Not yet no.
I saw it the other day and it was in the workshop having its lower arms replaced. I drove it today and gave it a fairly thorough going over. It showed a suspension fault when I lifted it. SO I gave its suspension some abuse, up down up down etc. It kept showing the fault. It lifted and lowered ok but showed a fault and seemed a bit sluggish.
I've been through its service records with a fine tooth comb. It had its compressor replaced in June so it should be ok. I just wondered whether they'd upset something when they did the lower arms. He cleared the fault on his coder reader and it seems fine since.
the only other thing to mention is that for some reason it has had its coolent level sensor disabled. It was showing a fault and rather than fix it the previous owner's mechanic chose to disable it. ANy thoughts?
Everything electrical works as it should as far as I can tell.
It had its 2 cambelts done for £350....
Seems cheap to me, although I do know that some of the independent guys are pretty competitive now...
It felt nice to drive, if a little more sluggish than the last one I drove. Only a little, not a lot.
Its never had an MOT advisory.
Thoughts anyone?
I'm still holding it with a refundable deposit.

Just spoken to the previous owner, a farmer like myself and had a good honest chat with him.
He was quite open with me.
Its been very well looked after but he said it had begun to lose power a little he thought (i did mention that I felt it was a bitt sluggish) He said if he was me he'd get someone to look at that before I pay for it, it could be something simple, or something not so simple.
He also felt its turbo lag was becoming greater at things like pulling out at roundabouts.
He said he could afford a new one for once, and so he bought a new one and traded it in.
The suspension is fine he thought.
Its not been hhis farm vehicle as he has a ford ranger for that, it's been his sunday and evenings vehicle. It's occasionally taken a trailer to shows and the odd market.
So whats this issue of the losing power then? Why is it slightly sluggish?

Loss of power is beyond me I am afraid - in the good old days I would have said head gasket, possibly linked to the coolant sensor being disconnected, but others here will have a far better idea.

Could be an issue with the turbo, think there were issues with early models and the coolant sensor and this resulted in some being disconnected, simple fix from memory but more knowledgable people will be along soon.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange
