Thanks for the reply Motolab!
Battery was pretty high up on my list but seems to be cranking fine so tried to make it last
What is the way to test from within the car with ignition on or off as I've read about the lights but I'm not sold on it working! Can I also test usign the fob with ignition on?

*I've just plugged in my scanner and the fault code B1D29-93 (No start even after restart attempt) has flagged up, is this still likely to be the battery?*

If your battery is after not using it for 12h still 12,6v no… but if it is less… probably

So, fired up my FBH using my phone and the BAS tele starter. It fires up and stays on for 30 mins, however it gets up to 88 degrees centigrade. I am presuming the temp sensors have gone. I've ordered a new set but cannot find any fitting instructions. Can I do this procedure without removing the unit ?

why do you think THAT?? if they are gone, it doesn't work....
somewere in the software there is a line saying at which temp to go into safety. in theory it could have been altered by "someone" in the past...
but TBH.. 88 dec Celcius for cooling liq temp in an engine happens quite often, so no danger in itself.. leave it at as if there are no problems otherwise...
carburetors, ignition and FBH, people LOVE to feddle with them... Best regards

Burner gasket
So, unfortunately I have to revive this thread too
Did any of you dig into the burner gasket topic a bit deeper? Material, thickness, number of gaskets, heat resistance?
Why are there 2 (?) gaskets? Is 250°C enough, or rather use several graphite sheets to make an own?
My FBH sometimes refuses to start. No start after 2nd attempt / no operation, sometimes even flame interuption. And while I'm at it, I want to inspect everything, including the fuel cup. Hence I need at least gasket sheet material at hand.

Hi, having serviced with new gaskets and refitted I had a massive Coolant leak that I am assuming is coming from where the elbows attach to the FBH. I disconnected the pipes and linked them with a 20mm elbow and the leak stopped. My assumption is that the elbows into the unit are not seated properly onto the o-rings? Is this the only place they could leak? The water jacket is sealed otherwise I believe? I ran out of patience to try and re assemble this evening. (The foaming oven cleaner worked a treat)

Had a go at cleaning the FBH this evening. It's been on and off since last autumn, and I thought I'd give it a go before winter kicks in over here. Easy job to remove and disassemble the unit, and as a pleasant surprise the chamber itself was relatively clean. A going over with an old dishwashing brush removed the deposits.
The unpleasant surprise was these cracks in the burner assy:
That spells new burner to me anyway...

So that's a common thing? Wish I had taken the burner apart to check the status of the burner and that wee cup. Where exactly is the temp sensor? I want to trick it with some ice to see if my cleaning improved the running at all. Might just buy the burner, half price at Island 4x4 compared to anywhere else!

If you follow the wiring on the body you'll see it leads you to a small round sensor. I think there are two of them, one NTC and one PTC, ( temperature & overheat sensors respectively).
They are resistance sensors and if I recall correctly they are located beneath the water connectors held in situ by a metal plate. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Discovered the fuel line on mine leads to nowhere! It has a connector but have no idea where it plugs into if anything. This was after trying everything to diagnose the FBH, turns out there is no fuel. Any advice appreciated!Discovery 4

The fuel pump is fed via a fuel feed line from the tank lpfp housing. The pump itself is located on the crossmember just forward of the fuel tank. It's a solenoid type pump (pulse signal). From there an output fuel line runs along the crossmember and up the passenger side of the engine where it then meets the FBH.
You can't run a continuous current to test the pump as this would damage it. If you have a suitable diagnostic tool (GAP) you can test the pump. It can be heard pulsing when operating or in test mode.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
