Morning all
I will be changing my passenger latch at the weekend. I have read this thread a million times so I think I am as ready as I can be!
But, I am also changing my window regulator, which is broken and rendered the window in the up position only (handy, much better than stuck down).
So my problem is, all the instructions say that to remove the regulator, I need to wind the window down 4 or 5 inches. I cant do that, so does anyone have any help?

Remove connector from regulator, then remove regulator ECU and after some practice you will find 2 contacts of motor. Thank for that, and I will try it.
i am not sure though, as having removed the door card to have a look, the regulator wires are in a heap in the bottom of the door!!!

Great guide, 2nd one done now and found it easier to remove door handle too. just wish I'd taken window down a bit further - there is a fine margin of how far to go down - too far and you can't unclip windows, too high and you can't get to door handle screw

There is an explanation of how to remove the door handle on another thread titled Door latch motor strip down & repair (D3 &D4). There are also some good videos on YouTube that show how to take the handle off.

Did my N/S front door yesterday. Bit fiddly but all went well.
I shall admit to a bit of swearing at times trying to get the emergency lock cable back on.
I was going to remove the door handle but found if you have someone put the key in emergency lock, turn it and hold it there it gives you an extra few millimeters of free play in the cable which is just enough and it slipped on straight away.
A bit fiddly but plain sailing thanks to this thread. Many many thanks again to the good people on this site who take the time to write these instructions and Dan at Duckworths for great service as always 8)

Thank you very much for this guide! I had followed to do the two rear doors but was stuck on the front passenger door - I didn't realise that there were two window clips (the rear doors only have one).
The other hot tip is that you need to have the window at or above 5" (125mm) opening gap in order to access the second clip. Originally I had it with a 165mm gap and could not fit my arm in to access!

If it helps , found having these window suckers extremely handy as well when I done mine , a lot easier than messing around with tape
Found the single ones the most useful as u didn’t need to worry about the curve of the glass

Managed to do it even with my fat arms! When all the trains are off I used an aluminium carpet threshold bar to wedge the clip open from the outside of the window, worked perfect with no damage or struggling 👍👍2006 D3 2.7tdv6 SE Zermatt (6A)

Thank you for this great guide. I did the job in 2 hours on D4 year 2013 and had only one issue and wanted to update the thread with the following warning (most likely only relevant if you have tinted glass):
I taped the window into position using duct tape. After removing the tape at the end of the job I noticed that the tape peels off coating on the internal side of the glass. I have factory tinted glass with 70% transmission. I believe it is some kind of anti-reflection coating and you have to look over carefully to notice the difference. The coating is just a few micrometers thick. I tried also a blue scotch paper masking tape and this removes the coating as well. Just wanted to warn fellow disco owners attempting to do this job. Never ever tape the internal side of glass - external is OK and doesn't cause any problem. The suction cups as suggested by gstuart sounds like a great idea.
