Indeed Paul, but what’s telling is you and I and quite a few other previously loyal Discovery owners on this forum have not replaced their D3/4’s with a D5. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

To be fair mine is more dealer based than because I don’t like the car. My family hate the D5 with a passion but I’m quite fairly ambivalent. Interestingly my wife who isn’t into cars at all much preferred the Cayenne to the D3s or D4, my son loves it because it’s a Porsche and my daughter screams if you let it go!
Sadly I don’t think I’ll be back into a LR at anytime, the service I’ve had from Porsche is far superior, another mate has just ditched them from his FFRR Vogue SE but was fed up with service.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

A good dealer, whatever the marque, does make a huge difference. I think LR made a big mistake ditching the small family run dealerships.
All marques have good and bad dealerships though. I use main dealers for Skoda, Toyota, Mini and Land Rover (MJ Fews lost their LR Approved Service Centre status). By far the best is the Toyota dealership.
Colleagues moan about the local Aston Martin, Porsche, Mercedes and Audi/VW dealerships. Although the Smart part of the large local Mercedes dealer is good.
I think if the D5 was right for us we’d put up with the lack of quality service.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

For sure, but then much of this Forum is about first world problems. We’re all very lucky to be able to afford to own and run such vehicles.
The point being though that the cost of the vehicle doesn’t correlate with the level of service from the main dealers.
I get better service from Toyota and Skoda than I do from Mini and Land Rover.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

The Skoda dealer we use is spot on a family owned business. My sister uses a closer one and the service is mediocre and part of a big chain. Have no problems with the Mini dealer but then my sister has worked for them for nearly 30 years. The Porsche dealer is part of a big chain and the service has been A1. I have used every LR dealer in an hour radius and every one has been crap, the Jag dealer was ok though and knew more than the LR dealer DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

I still miss Guava, and my days of LR ownership are finished.
Though not missing the bills.

A friends boss owns a McLaren, it’s been back at the factory for more time than it’s been in his garage. Abysmal customer service support as well. I think it’s going to end up in court.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
