Hi roko, did you manage to get any info on how to get the screen brighter, i did check v8 louis gallery and its not to clear on what he does on the back of the screen does he solder wire on the pionts shown and and is there any closer picture on what he solders it onto.
Thanks

hi friends
sorry for my bad english i hope you understand me anyway
ok we choose the methode without switch
the cable cut through the plug for rr mode is described in this thread
now we have to solder one diode from point 1 to point 2
but be careful when soldering
if jou have no experience with soldering let it be and get someone who can
now jou have a brigth screen
disadvantage: you can not dimm and are always in rr mode
we choose the methode with switch we can select the d3 or the rr mode and in the nigth
jou can turn the switch and the screen is dimming
the way is easy
wenn cut through the cable to extend the cable to switch pin 2 and pin 3
the same with the diode cable extend to switch pin 4 and pin5
someone has an idea where can i get an electronic manual from screen
so i can look for a better version
good luck

What value is the diode, I've got 100 pieces from maplins electronics
Of mixed values so want to lob the right one in, got the switch which is goin behind the drivers knee panel,
And just put the number plate cam in so far, not got as far as running the cables from back to front of the car as I ran out of light.
And to top it all my next door neighbour who works at Aston
Martin near by was being nosey and said by the way I know chaps at landrover that have access to laptops that can reflash my car etc
Not what you know it's who you know, just wish he told me that when my transfer box was acting up a few months back

Just made the modif, screen is bright and perfectly readable in plain sunlight !
Thanks! The beginning of wisdom is silence. The second step is listening.

Hi again,
Perhaps a few details on what to watch out for...
* be carefull when manipulating the fibercables, be sure not to bent them to short.
* the first point cools of very quickly, I had some difficulties heating it up, guess my solder-iron was tired...
* be carefull at point 1 to not over do it with the solder, as there is another solderpoint nearby which you make sure to not shortcircuit it with point 1
* I changed the second point, on the pictures above, the second point is the heatshield on the 3 legged IC, you'll notice that the middle leg on that IC is not connected, this leg is connected to the heatshield, so I connected point 2 to that middle leg.
I did put the diode in a piece of shrinkable tube ("krimpkous" in dutch, don't know the exact translation) to be sure that it doesn't touch other components.
After this mod, no more flickering, steady clear picture. Just turn the brightness down, as now you could get a tan driving around leaving the brightness at 100%
The only (minor) downside perhaps: you can no longer change the brightness of the screen with the thingy on the headlight switchpanel (to adjust the brightness of the instrument panel), you have to change brightness through the settings menu.
Cheers,
Fripsy
PS. As asked a few posts above, if someone could get his or her hands on the electronic schematics for the screen (or for every other unit in the car... with software source... ): Yes please !The beginning of wisdom is silence. The second step is listening.
