She didn't notice I just drove on the drive and my headlights caught a reflection of the black plastic protectors beside the exhaust. So I had a butchers and say it had gone

I think Bluewater is well covered by CCTV, worth getting them to have a look, but when was the last time you definately knew it was there? As I said I would not have a clue about mine, it's a shame that the cable is not attached to the alarm system somehow Rolling Eyes

Maybe attach it to a smoke cannister like the bright orange ones I have on my boat, that would be interesting, but not as interesting as it being attached to a flare Shocked

I think you will find they have excellent cameras that will pick up everything from entry to exit at all entrances and exits and all parking zones as it is a terrorist threat, see huge concrete barriers that are now placed at the entrances e.g. John Lewis entrance Wink

I bet you get a response of
"Sorry sir but the data protection act prevents us from revealing CCTV footage to the public, we can have any thieves suing us can we now"

"I bet you get a response of "Sorry sir but the data protection act prevents us from revealing CCTV footage to the public, we can have any thieves suing us can we now"

This shouldn't be the case.

Under the Data Protection Act, there is a right to view CCTV footage, although there is some ambiguity if it is not public land or land where there is a public right of way.

A couple of years ago, I had a motorbike stolen outside House of Fraser, and their camera would clearly have captured footage. I asked to see it, and was told to go away. A friend told me about the legal right, so I called their head office, returned to the store, paid £10, and was given a comfy seat in the security room to view the footage.

At Bluewater, the car park is almost certainly private land, but I would be surprised if they denied you access. I would assume the centre management would be keen to assist anybody trying to solve a crime committed on their estate. It would not be good for their reputation if the car parks gain a reputation for being patrolled by petty thieves.

This is where you'll find more information about the legal right:

http://www.cctv-information.co.uk/i/The_Da...a_Subjects

If you are denied, then I can probably get you a point of contact at the company that owns the shopping centre (i.e. above the local management).

The footage at House of Fraser clearly showed the thieves loading my treasured motorbike into a van; unfortunately it was on foreign plates and these were partially obscured. Needless to say the Metropolitan police didn't make it a priority...

Good luck

The Police can request the CCTV as long as you report the theft.....even a bobby on the beat can 'seize' a CCTV tape if a crime has been committed....

Sorry it might not help here but I suggest if it ever happens again you call the police and ask them to attend....more often than not the theft of spare wheels is usually linked to much larger organised crime.

I had my bags stolen on the tube in London and the police turned up and immediately got the CCTV and spotted the the little sh*t....sorry I mean the offender....
