Sorry to hear about the theft - there's that much lowlife around these days ....
.... including the scum that did £830 of damage to my D4
But out of curiosity on this type of theft, how do they physically steal a spare wheel?
Wouldn't have thought there wasn't room to get cutters onto the cable? ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Unnecessary quote removed
Do they not just deflate the tyre first to create a bit of space and then cut the cable?

Probably just drill up, I guess if you have a valuable spare wheel and tyre you need an RLD security plate

I can't imagine that they would be too worried about the valve, just puncture the tyre to deflate it, a cheap repair won't bother a thief. It happened to me years ago when I owned a Peugeot 205, forking out for a new wheel and tyre really hurt me in those days. I would almost be tempted to leave the spare at home and carry a kit, easy pickings for any low life.

even if they deflated the tyre it would still be far too rigid for them to gain access to any of the mechanicals. The best way of stopping them is to put on a suitable protector like Uncle Rays RLD special 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

A site sponsor who fabricates things, see here near the bottom under site sponsors http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/sponsors.php
He produces covers that protect the spare wheel as well as other off road items

What? ..if you deflate a D3 \ 4 tyre it stays rigid ...and theres me thinking you'd been around 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Got an RLD protector on my D4 and feel happier about the security. The new D4s have about 3 inches of metal collar at the wheel end of the cable to make it harder to cut. Obviously not long enough Sorry to hear about the theft My17 Volvo XC90 Inscription
