I thought that the front diff, rear diff and transfer were filled by volume only....I mean that the trick of filling until oil starts to trickle out of the filler hole was only applicable to the auto box. Question

I think your right - well spotted (edited to reflect this) Thumbs Up

Drive shaft Boot Cover

Steve
Did the drive shaft boot cover come as a kit for both sides and is it exactly the same to fit both sides.
Thanks

Then with your assistant again pressing on the brake pedal, tighten the hub nut to 350lbs/ft torque

Shouldn't that be 350nm torque instead if 350lbs/ft which is ~476nm?

into week 2 of this "exercise".

Disco-Steve I take it you have an automatic Disco 3. I ordered the boot kit against the number you quoted. Does not fit at wheel side. Numbers for boot kit as follows

Auto TDR 500100

Manual TDR 500110.

As usual since nothing has gone right so far I stand to be corrected. Good write up . Anyone got some good ideas how to get the CV jpoint off?

If it doesn't come off with a few taps, then it may well be stuck fast like mine was...... 30ton press yo get it off & the shaft splines broke. The wire circlip had soemhow got into the splines * just locked it on solid. I ended up getting a whole new driveshaft with inner & outer CV as a complete unit.

I have replaced my boot rubbers this weekend with the help of the above information. Only issue I had was my brakepad sensor was so brittle that it broke when I removed it. Fixed that temp with pratley putty till next brake pad replacement. Thak you for the info! Laughing

Just replaced the hub and discs on one side tonight, got same to do along with a CV boot on the other side tomorrow!

...question about this statement though:

"refill the differential with oil (only 0.61 of a litre is required) "

...can someone tip me off how to do this?

Cheers Paul

Sorry to rephrase, "where" is the filter located?

or do u add it straight into the diff while shaft is out? If this is the case why bother draining in first place if oil is okay and does not need refreshed?

Sorry for being thick lol
