Hi All,
Somehow, a really enjoyable tour around Idaho USA, in a Grand Cherokee translated into plenty of research and eventually, Disco-lust soon after returning to the UK – thanks largely to Christian and Vera's highly edutaining LR Time YT Channel. Yep, hard to believe the Germans sold a Brit-Kiwi couple the idea of life with a Disco, but there you go! And as they're always plugging the benefits of DISCO3.CO.UK, here I am, freshly signed up after plenty of time already spent browsing this excellent resource – many thanks to you all
Right now, looking for that all-but-essential 'pre-purchase and life with a Disco' accessory – a used GAP IID tool.

Yay another Kiwi on board! (We are a bit out numbered on this forum)
And yes recommend the GAPIID tool.

Enjoyed a great tramping holiday around and up Mount Taranaki in my teens
Somewhere up around that cloud layer, there's one of the best views-from-a-dunny in the world, as I recall.

Yip that's pretty much the view out my back door, just a few K's further north, I'm on a farm between Stratford and Inglewood. Nice living next to a volcano that is having a wee nap. It's due to blow again sometime in the next few hundred years or so.
Enjoy the Discovery, they are a great truck.
Cheers

Hi!
New to the forum, I’ve been lurking a few months now.
Had my eye on a disco 4 for best part of 6 months, been and seen/test driven 4 or 5.
Somewhat reluctant to take the plunge given I’d really like to use for trips to Romania (3k mile round trip) a couple of times a year. Seen so many crankshaft horror stories, and was hoping someone might be able to put me at ease.
In terms of budget, I’m at the 27/30k mark at a push, and struggling to find anything with low mileage and a history preventative maintenance….
Here’s the big question, which option is best,
Cheap out on a disco 3, and run into ground/save money to maintain/not feel bad if it explodes
Or
Spend 30k on a 2016 landmark with 60k on clock!
Would love the take from this amazing community! Thanks for having me!

Apologies if my previous post should have been in an existing ‘what to by tread’ that I didn’t quite find.

Evening all thanks for letting me in the group good to see a decent forum.
I have a d3 2005 plate 2.7 tdv6 not had the truck long tbh and I gotta be honest I do like it just I’m having few issues and can’t get it to run wasn’t like it from the start but got worse sooooo
It basically comes up with limited gear available and the letter F on the right hand side will turn over but won’t fire sometime it does but recently no luck have put new battery in it new brake switch non genuine had quick look at transmission ecu in behind the battery was wet or anything but was green corrosion around terminals and one of terminals is pretty weak as in it moves quite easy do you think this could be the problem ? Also think actuator is sticking but has been for a while and was fine still ran ok 😂😂🤦♂️any help or idea would be great sorry for the long post 😝

Hi,
I'm Lea, based in Lincoln. I do all (where possible) the work on my vehicles. I've had a D1, D2 and I now have a D3. Looking forward to helping others where I can.
Cheers

Hello everyone, I've been a lurker here for half a year since I bought a cheap 2004 D3 (with known issues) off a mate, thought I'd finally register and say hi.
Born and bred in Cornwall.
I've enjoyed learning the intricacies of the vehicle (steep learning curve as this is my first ever LR) and working on it myself where possible. So far I have: blanked the EGR valves and removed butterfly valve, replaced split intercooler hoses with silicone versions, freed up the turbo actuator, fitted new coolant expansion tank, replaced upper tailgate switch, replaced NSR light cluster, fitted different alloys and decent Pirelli tyres. Next on the list is repair the electronic handbrake module, service the air suspension valve blocks, fit new cambelt and upgraded oil pump, and get the horn to work...
Enjoying the challenge so far!

Hi All,
Thank you for having me and thank you in advance for the help I am surely going to need!
About to pull the trigger on a MY16 Landmark D4 and I am already getting well excited about the opportunities for upgrades and updates (ACC mod is already on the list).
Looking forward to pouring over the boards and getting up to speed on good maintenance practices and tips/tricks.
