Hello everyone.
We’ve just bought our first Disco 3 (although not the first Land Rover). So far it’s been a cracking motor. Hope to be able to share experiences and gain a bit advice when needed. Oh while we are on that does anyone have a cubby box lid spare? They flipping expensive from Rimmers.

Hi all,
Joined the forum to find out more from all you good folks on all things D4, to help me buy as informed as I can. Totally lost with picking good from bad on auto trader so any advice, or genuine motors for sale on here are most welcomed. Looking for a well looked after 8 speed, open to most specs and age but good mileage as I want a long term relationship ha.. used for towing a boat, a bit of beach launching and camping so any off-road accessories/advice would be good. Thanks in advance. Matt

Welcome to the new members
Mattysplat - if you use the "search" function at the top of the page there are alot of posts relating to advice on buying a D4. They do occasionally come up in the "for sale" section and you will know that if one does it will have been well looked after and treated (spoilt) by a forum member Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

Hello to all. Recently sold my 01 Range Rover HSE to get into a 08 Disco SE. I have already installed a Frontrunner slimline roof rack, ham and cb radio, rebuilt the air pump and valve blocks, and installed AT tires.

Hello
I’m from sunny South Africa 🇿🇦 and I bought myself a 12 year old D4 5.0 V8 15 months ago. It was well maintained and had reasonable wear and tear for its age and mileage(209000km). It has been a lovely and peaceful time, I’m under no illusions though, it’s calm before the storm. The car is 11 years old after all.
So I’m here to learn and share ideas. I’ve got a bit of mechanical background, I can do most of the heavy lifting with access to the right tools. My tool collection right now is probably at 20% of what I think I need and with it I was able to do my oil and spark plug change just before Christmas.
Got to know about you from a YouTube channel LRTime.

Seems like you are approaching your Discovery ownership with the correct attitude - need workshop/lots of tools/ability to get hands dirty
Keep us up to date with the work you undertake - its useful to other members Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

New D4 Owner
Hi,
Thought I’d introduce myself. I’m Matt, recently acquired a 2011 D4 Commercial to replace an ageing and well-worn 20 yr Defender130.
The D4 was owned by FamousFour Land Rover in Louth, Lincs as their in-house recovery vehicle and was prepped with useful items like battery isolated rear mount Anderson socket for powering winches / portable power packs etc.
My friends at FoleySV collected it last week and have fitted a range of LazerLamps, Amber beacons and a Terrafirma swingaway carrier to make it more suitable for use with my forestry / charcoal business. There is one area of concern - a newly discovered front diff pinion oil seal leak, which I hope members on the forum might be able to help me with - I’m not a mechanic.
Anyway, a few pictures.

wishbone
this is driving me crazy upper rear right wishbone, got it off after a lot of sawing and grinding, but i cannot get the top or forward bolt to go in it keeps hitting the air tank guard or the large chassis beam.is there a special tool required? i have tried jacking it up but everything goes up with it i am at my wits end with this...oh dear, how daft am i??? .looking at diagrams of upper right rear the bolt head is at the air tank side .but looking at a you tube video about removal of arm {i have watched this a few times and not noticed} the nut is on the air tank side and not the bolt no wonder it would not go in...i can only put this down to old age!!!...no wonder i had no replies.ihave done front wheel bearings new alternator and a second hand radiator{full of hidden screws pain to get off } and a new header tank kept getting low coolant message.now i think i know what iam doing ?do i do other side or just leave it?..
