Good point Thumbs Up

Looking at the photo in this thread, ISTR that mine is pushed in a lot further than this.

eaglesrest - do you tighten up the ISOFIX first or the Top Tether? I think the 'correct' way is to fit the ISOFIX as far as possible and then tighten up the top tether - from your photo it looks like you may have done it the other way around?

That is what it looks like to me PaulP but haven't got a childseat with me today so can't check Thumbs Up

That is what I was always confused by the top tether, as it just flaps in an air gap on mine Whistle

...hence gave up with it.

I check ours as they are in and out all the time by swinging my weight sharply on the child seat straps. The seat does not move Thumbs Up
end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

Lo, top tip on attaching/removing the top tether without going into the boot!!

I put the car seat in the ISOFIX mountings first and pushed it in as far as possible. It doesn't sit flush. Then I attach the top tether and tighten. TBH the tether does pull the base up even further, which I don't think it is supposed to do. It certainly didn't in my previous car. I don't know which is most secure now, top tethered or not?! I guess if its attached in 3 points to the chassis/seat back that should be more stable than just the two, even if it does look a bit odd.

Audi A4 was listed as having them, but it turned out they had been optional when we bought it and I was too tight to tick the box, so fitting the car seat became a bit expensive Embarassed

Just a quick tip - you can easily retro-fit the ISOFIX brackets in the back of an A4, I think it is about £40 for the bits, although I can't remember if that is per side. if you're interested I'll have a look for the info.

Hi Dan,

Thanks - that's exactly what I did - I bought them for both sides and I think it was about £70 with a bit of a discount from our friendly local Audi dealer.

They were very easy to fit, except for when I dropped one of the bolts down underneath the rear seat cushion Rolling Eyes For anyone's benefit that does this in future the torque setting for the bolts is 30NM

Anyway, thanks again!

David

reviving an old thread here, apologies, I have just placed a Duo Plus in my Discovery 4, the seat feels very solid and cannot move from side to side on forwards. However the front of the seat can lift up an inch or so before the top the seat contacts with the passenger seat.

I don't see any way around this, unless i put something such as rolled up towels at the back of the car seat.

Is this usual? thanks
