Gstuart, are you using the original switch with the harness or planning on swapping it for a carling switch? Just thought you were keeping OEM2008 HSE Stornoway Grey

The LR switch must light up when the ignition is on (when selected) (if wired as per RRS instructions)
LR-CARL - Function - wire colour
1 - Pin 1 - in gnd black
4 - Pin 2 - out sw black
.......3 - link to pin 2
3 - Pin 7 - Ill red/brown
2- Pin 8 - Ill Gnd black
I guess most of the wires on your loom are black at the switch ?!
change History: Ignore
5 - Pin 7 - IGN red/orange

Hiya
No, not going to use the genuine switch that came with the loom and indeed swapping it for a carling switch
The carling switch should just push into the Aux panel I’ve got without any cutting etc

Thanks a million for that and can’t thank u enough , as always you’ve saved my bacon, Again , lol
Indeed ur right, many of the colours at the switch look black , plus good job your able to work out the PIN numbers as I only got a few correct
*** for anyone - Please ignore below as incorrect ***
1: Switched Ground Out (Grounded when switch pressed down) - to relay coil pin 85 To pin 1
2: Illumination +12V To pin 8
3: (Not Connected)
4: Ground To pin 7
5: Spotlight +12V (illuminates orange LED when spots are on) - to relay output pin 87 To pin 2
Bless u once again and hopefully it will help someone else in the future who wishes to do the same

Ok, so this is the wiring method I used for a carling switch a while ago, had the same issues but lucked supplier had it on their sales listing “to light” wire goes to the relay in your case

Just note that if using genuine LR assessory wiring loom, the switch is switching the negitive.
Hence my bizzar connections

Maybe not the best idea TBH…
Using your spotlights in daily traffic situations (against using them overlanding when there is almost never other traffic) a switch to activate and more importantly de-activate the spots quick… must be within higher reach (within your primary road vision window) and not low down “at ash tray level..”
As you know i use this setup with two spotlights on my D3 regularly so i think i know what i am talking about, haha.
The OEM LR auxiliary light switch on its original location is not placed perfect, BUT within your primary vision window and looks very neat too of you have the OEM cover (i have a spare for a RHD if needed) work is easy with a dremel…Best regards

Hiya
Indeed that’s a good point but suppose my way of thinking was I’ll be able to turn them off very quickly with the stalk
will only be using them on country lanes or greenlaning , plus of course my main concern was messing up the dashboard if I get it wrong , do have a dremel , would have felt happier if the panel just came off as I could have placed it onto a pillar drill with it being more stable
But see ur point and a very valid one, may i ask please did u drill the panel corners first plse
Many thks and very kind of u, have one of each , also another thought was mounting it on the centre satnav area, seeing that’s empty there’s a plate available or easily use some plastic sheeting
As always am very grateful for the feedback and room for thought , I’ll mount the carling switch and see what it looks like and take some pics , last thing I want to do is make it look like a dogs dinner
Know I’m my own worst enemy in over thinking things and making it more complicated than it’s needs to be
Thks again and hope this finds u well

I assume the switch shown in that diagram is neither a LR switch or carling switch
