help needed "transmission fault limited range"

hi all

started off on a trip this morn I got as far as durham (about 25 mins driving) when I got
"transmission fault limited range" warning on dash then a shed loads of warning lights and the suspension lowered so I limped off a slip road turned her of then fired back up and all was fine
rang the AA and while waiting (after about 15 mins) I tried to start her up again but she was dead

when the recovery tuned up he stuck a battery pack on and sure enough she fired up so I decided to head back home where after another 20 wish mins it happened again

again I pulled over turn off and re-started and off we went again

could this be a battery issue ?
I had a new battery installed 4 months ago but yesterday it was flat
I just assumed I had drained it from doing short runs with the aircon on full blast over the last few days

any ideas anyone ???

Sounds like a battery issue, these things are very sensitive to voltages. Have a read of the below and check voltages are in line with expected readings.

Thanks

I’m going to start with the battery
Then alternator etc

Just read a thread on here where a guy had the same issue

Turned out in the end to be the abs module

Hoping if it’s the module my after maker warranty will cover it
As there around £700

You need to get the fault codes read a failing low pressure fuel pump can also cause these symtoms.

If a new battery has gone flat it may mean that the alternator needs replacing. Check that it is outputting around 14.4v just after start up.
