@Landybandy, is that the final work? How much did it end up costing? I had my sills replaced by new ones from Britpart this autumn, and some work done on the rear wheel arches. I had originally intended only to do the wheel arches, as that's the only place I saw corrosion, but the body shop took the plastic trim off and did some sandblasting to the sills. Total nightmare
Ended up costing an arm and a leg. Previous owner hadn't used ANY type of rust protection on the underbody, and never had the trim off either. From now on it's going to be a yearly event with plenty of Fluid Film being applied!

£1300 in the end. Which was a bargain compared to prices I heard some had been quoted. I wasn’t happy with the paint job. Painting was done elsewhere. I couldn’t be bothered to complain. I just took the vehicle and left. Was just happy that the rust monstrosity had gone. Yes this was finished bar the plastics to be replaced.Currently own

I ended up paying almost twice that amount, but prices are higher over here I expect. That was included paint, and two small spots of rust above the windshield. Paint job and all was pretty good, but they made a mess of the interior, filling it with dust from the sanding process. Plus they took two weeks longer than they promised

Gives me a potential price for my own car.
It’s got rust in the back arches and sills where yours was cut out.
Plus a couple of patches on the sills.
Mine needs a respray after some paintwork in the past wasn’t done right and had reacted.
The cars restoration is going to be a long one at this rate.

A 2004 model.
203,934 miles on the clock and has spent most of its life in Scotland where we like to throw grit down for months at a time.
So it’s needing freshened up if it’s to do the same again.

I left my plastic side sill covers off after seeing how much damp mud was trapped behind them. As the Disco is black, it's not really obvious they aren't fitted. This way, every time it's washed so are the sills, and I can keep an eye on the condition. So far working well ..

Have you plugged the holes in any way? I can see quite a lot of debris ending up inside the sills, and that would probably cause them to rust from the inside out.

I know.
It’s fallen into that awkward bracket where it’s got too many good parts to break/scrap.
But it’s needing more than it’s current value to bring back to full glory.
So it’s sat in limbo while I mulled over it’s fate till Emma said that we fix it up and get it back.
Too much history and connection with it after 9 1/2 years to let it go so it’s getting restored back to glory and it will join my 1950 80” as a car I’ll never sell.

Good on ya AJM. Have you still got all the extras you fitted? If I remember you were selling them at one time!Mantec sump guard.
Prospeed tree slider/steps.
Flack duel battery system.
18"Compomotive/AT3 tyres
Brembo 4pot front brakes

I’ve still got most of them.
The Prospeed sliders, rear ladder and compressor guard, dog guard and cubby box fridge are gone.
And rather annoyingly I sold the iid tool, which would have been handy but circumstances meant I needed the funds.
The Prospeed guards, LR A bar with spots and genuine winch spec sump guard and the front runner rack all remain.
But, the bits I’ve sold, I can buy again in the future at some point.
Have spoken with Engine 710 in Edinburgh who look after my Freeby 2 about taking on the restoration after I’ve done the bits I can do and they know me, the car and the garage that’s put me in this predicament. They are keen to help turn the car back to looking like this again.
Target is Le Mans 2023 so I’ve some time to get everything done and not be a rushed job.
