Great advice - thank you - will pop out and try and find some hose. Am I right in thinking a regular bit of garden hose and a jubilee clip will do? Thank you again.2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

Yes that's how I did it in fact the hose pushes on to oil cooler inlet so well a jubilee clip is not essential.

Well, thanks to the top advice here, I managed to get it in. Took me forever to find the right colour hose like Gary’s Thank you again, so much! Was straightforward, though I have big hands so was a bit tricky to get the hose off.
Feels smoother and doesn’t judder on hills where I expect it to, but going to take it really easy.
Will see how the next few days are, but will probably try and get a closer ferry back just to be on the safe side, but we only need to cover a few miles each day here as everything is on the doorstep.
Thank you again - will keep you posted!2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

Is it vibration under load or is the tc sawtoothing (oscillating at 1/sec coming on and off)?
Try and just use your gearstick and shift manually. Sometimes the electronics is undecided and needs the voice of the master!

Not sure it works properly with a blue stripe on the essential yellow hose?

Daft question from a non techie, but do you have to remove the same amount of gearbox oil as Dr T put in or is it just bung it in as that small amount doesn't make any difference? Looks like a piece of hose and tube of Dr T might be a good addition to the bits & bobs bag when the car gets older.

It's fine to just bung it in its a very small amount and no issue whatsoever.

If you are putting it into the rad side it doesn't matter.
If you are putting it into the cars hose, you need to remove some fluid to make room (otherwise you will just spill it)
Worth having some gloves too.
Have you read its health warnings?

Well, couple of days in and cars not juddering on hills I’d expect it to. Thank you again to all - the fix has definitely made a big difference to our hols
What’s the best way of driving to try and reduce wear on torque converter? Am thinking that Sports mode makes sure it doesn’t drop in too low a gear too often and then also command shift to stop it dropping into a lower gear on hills?
Still undecided as to what to do... chance it on a 600mile trip to Rotterdam, or bail out and get a crossing from St Malo or Caen (but they will be rubbish as all the cabins have gone (have a 5 and 7 year old)...
Have a 25 mile journey from Hull once in the UK, the only reason for getting a closer France ferry is if I need recovering for it to happen in the UK...
Hmmm.... no way I’ll really know until the van’s connected...2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

I would try to get to Rotterdam.
Connect it up and start off in auto and take it easy. If all seems fine then carry on as is.
If it slips under heavy load then you may wish to switch to manual gear control but do not strain the converter by keeping it in a higher gear than it can cope with.
I am sure other more mechanically minded folk will have a contribution to make.
