Surely you have your hampers delivered by Fortnum's??
You can tell FC has been raised properly. He sends his man to Fotnums rather than that awful shop on Knightsbridge. There are two rules for success,

It all depends I guess on how much money you have to spend on shopping. I'm sure, given the option, we would all shop at M&S.
These bloody Discoverys are sooooo expensive to run

Aldi & Lidl drive me up the wall, I too was in Tesco's a few weeks ago with a full trolly and was told I would have to use the self service. Saturday afternoon and only 2 tills open. I refused and was told its self service or a 20 min wait. Told the guy to put all my stuff back as I refuse to use self service.
Self service is grand for 10 or less items but there is no way I'm going to put a full trolley through self service. I go to tescos because I don't like self service "Unexpected item in the bagging area" all the dam time.
Came home and placed order online with Tesco's, 3 or 4 of the items I ordered were not in stock so the substituted with higher grade products at no extra cost. Happy Days.Dale
I like answering the Self Service tills when they talk to me:
"Have you scanned your Clubcard?"
"I haven't got a Clubcard."
"Have you scanned your Clubcard?"
"Look, aren't you listening to what I'm telling you..."
Other shoppers think I'm mad. Which has the benefit of keeping them well away from me.

Love Aldi.
Tried Ocado delivery and found the pricing astronomic for some things, and quality iffy. So you'd end up doing and buying certain things elsewhere.
I find thinking out the savings on the bill makes the trolley packing game worthwhile.
As others have said, have big bags or boxes/crates ready to sweep into 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

We've tried most, Ocado, range is limited and can be a bit expensive on some items.
Tesco's can have good and bad days.
Asda, waste of time, often received someone else's shopping and missing lots of ours, last delivery had sixteen items substituted.
Morrisons, been using them since November, only ever had two items substituted, can't fault them.

Peasants still doing your shopping yourselves!
OK occasionally we visit Aldi and Lidl to take advantage of the offers and before you know it yes you have a trolley load.
For the main Shop the trouble and strife does the on-line order from Tesco. I became a convert a few years back as I suffer with trolley rage. Doddering old dears who seemingly walk at a snails pace between random browsing and then just when you think you are OK for the overtake she speeds up and cuts across you.
Anyone remember Billy Liar where he keeps envisaging what he'd like to do... well I have those visions in supermarkets Old Dears pick up and deposited in the freezer.... kids picked up... gagged with several sheets of kitchen roll (one sheet is not plenty) and stuck upside down in the trolley. And then there's the random mad person.... we all know one or two, you know.. the ones you avoid why are they always doing contra rotating laps of the isles your doing so you have to may polite conversation.... by Isle eight I'm coming up with cunning plots to double back on myself and just when I think I've got it nailed the Mrs decides we're going to skip an Isle and we're back to dodge the mad sod.

Learned this lesson a while back
Pick the stuff that you think looks good value and you think is needed, invariably it's wrong. Clue is usually bright offer label on it. Buy stuff you don't apparently need and never get sent shopping again. Pat on the back for trying though!D3 2.7 Zermatt silver (not another one)

D3 4.4 V8 Adriatic Blue

we just put a 40p Ikea bag(s) in the trolley and load the shopping in that and then straight in the back of the car. Do this at all supermarkets. Used to use brown paper potato bags but have moved upmarket, although some would say downmarket

I always have my shopping delivered but ventured into an Aldi a week or two back as I wanted one of the LED torches they were selling, found the torch OK but when I got to the checkout the conveyor belts were about quarter of a mile long Luckily 2 little old ladies allowed me to jump the queue and when I handed my torch to the checkout operator she said "is that it" Cheers Ian
