Your Sat Nav and Camera not working, do you get a black screen but the radio still working but nothing on the screen?

I bought an experience car in 2014, be very careful, see how much body & warranty work has been done.

Mine went back after less than 24 Hrs for a full refund.

http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic115367.html

Basically low mileage but spent all its life off road getting bashed & trashed.

I would personally advise anyone NOT to buy an experience car..

Would you buy one that had been used all its life off road from a private seller ??

Further to "Washwipes" query, when the cameras go awol, I get a message saying "Parking AIDS not available, contact Main Dealer " or words to that effect. When the Sat Nav packs up, I get a little symbol showing G.P.S with a line through the G.P.S.
As far as I can recall, the radio works when either fault is displayed.

I am interested in this:

http://www.portlandautos.co.uk/used-cars/y...eps-priv/#

Its a silver 2012 HSE 8 speed for £30k, with 63k on it. The plate is 'OV' and the dealer has put photos of the service book on, which shows the first service as Land Rover Vehicles Corby, which is very close to LRE Rockingham!

The first two services also seem unusually close together, with only 4 months and 7 miles between them!

It also has what looks like after market privacy glass, and I am fairly sure the LRE vehicles have clear, so in its early life it probably had clear glass. I guess there is no way of knowing if it was an LRE vehicle without having a good look at the underside?

The low miles between the 2 services could be that Stratstone had the car on their forecourt for a couple months having acquired it from LR. And when they sold it they did the customary oil service to send the new owner away with a freshly serviced car.

Yes, agreed.

I have just had a look at some videos of the Rockingham LRE Discoveries. They don't have privacy glass as suspected, but they obviously have 19" wheels.

It does look in very good condition, but I guess the factory can get an ex-LRE vehicle looking very shiny when it leaves them!

I would assume that that is ex LRE, until proven otherwise.
 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄

2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!
(One of only two known to exist in the world!)

Having been on several LRE days over the years and having spoken at length to a few of the instructors I personally would not buy a LRE vehicle.

These cars, despite being low mileage in many cases, work hard for their living and are driven by people who basically do t care about the car and have no mechanical sympathy with it.

Whilst Land Rovers are supposedly designed to be driven through rivers, mud bogs, across rocks and boulders, heavily grounded and generally used and abused, you only have to look at the faults that are thrown up when these vehicles are driven sensibly on the road, by their owners, to know that an LRE car is likely to give you problems.

Just my thoughts, and I'm sure that some on the forum will disagree.

I agree completely. This is a lot of money for me to spend, plus I have been looking for a very long time (as well as saving up for it!), I don't want to get it wrong.

Its not about whether the vehicles can take it, its more about the fact that they get an entire life's worth of extreme off-roading by untrained and unsympathetic drivers crammed into their first few thousand miles.

My feeling is that for this particular one I am going to assume its LRE, and keep looking.

Different to mine, I just used to get a black screen, radio still works but you have to guess where the buttons are, software update cured mine.

A bit of trundling around the net has revealed a very close brother of the Discovery 4 mentioned above that I was interested in, with full LRE kit including a winch. The number plates are very similar, OV12 MYJ vs OV12 YFJ, the one for sale above could have looked like this once upon a time!
