Faith restored
Supplying dealer (Copley Halifax) collected the car from me today, they have called me to say the rear brakes appear not to have been fully serviced and as result the calliper was sticking causing premature pad/disk wear (and the resulting heating of the wheel).
To rectify they have stripped cleaned and serviced the rear brakes and changed the disks and pads, they have also reset the gearbox and performed the latest software updates to address the lumpy changes.

Yes it was Farnell, they are a smart/slick outfit and I can see that they can't just do things FOC that are not specifically covered under the warranty terms. My gripe though is that I feel they could have tried much harder in terms of customer service by;
a) making it explicitly clear that there would be an inspection charge for anything not covered under the LR warranty - (they never even suggested this would apply or that I might be better going back to the supplier given the issues reported)
b) once it was noted that it was not a warranty claim in the truest sense they could have at least tried to negotiate with the supplier for me and get the cost invoiced across to save the hassle of a re-book
Farnell just seemed to be looking for every opportunity to charge me, the complete opposite to Copley. I now know where to place my loyalty and trust and Farnell have lost the opportunity to look after me as a customer and secure any repeat business, pretty short sighted of them really.

Great to hear your good news and positive feedback for a dealer who stepped up to the plate. I bought my used Disco from Copley too. It was a 600 miles round trip to buy it sight unseen and was very pleased with the service they gave. Long may it last, the good service and my Disco!

Farnell were just about ok when they were part of the Co-op, now part of some large group who also own Bristol Street, enough said.Displaced Yorkshireman.

Top result and at least one of the dealers finally realised it was time to implement some good old customer service. Although as they were the supplying dealer they probably realised they had little choice Discovery 4 HSE

I had excellent customer service from Farnell as part of Co-Op Group; however, they ultimately became the reason why I got rid of my D4 in 2014.
Funnily enough, I never did get to hear what they, or LRCS for that matter, were prepared to do to keep me in a Land Rover and am still waiting.2010 MX-5 2.0 Sport Tech PRHT
