Ive had a few different car auto sumps off now and all have had dirty magnets to one degree or another.

We change the truck auto trans oil and filters roughly every 6 months and you can certainly tell the difference in the gear changes.

They run tower type filters that look like std hydraulic oil filters ie more of a mesh than a filter

Ukraine 

Here's a couple of screen dumps with temps from yesterday's wee run.

Normal running, 60mph plodding along the M-somethingorother.

And here after 30 minutes of stop-start traffic on the M25 in the toastieness.

Temperature in the gearbox didn't drop down very quickly either once back up to speed once the traffic thinned out, after 15 mins of 60mph, local, stop for diesel then local to home it was still in the high 80s.
