Ok so only had the D3 for 3 weeks and already I have done the tracking, replaced both lower suspension arms and done the brakes, have just brought a oil/fuel/air filter service kit for her and 4 new tyres as well as a Nanocom to try and help kick the FBH into life.
This is on a car with 88,500 miles and with a (supposed) FSH although it didn't come with a service book and now the guy I brought it from can't (won't?) find the service record to send to me...
Anyway 2 weeks ago hitched up the stock trailer for the first time for a 12 mile run, about 4 miles in and got transmission fault, suspension fault, hdc fault and suspension lowered. Got to the destination switched off, unloaded the sheep started up and all was fine.
Been running 15-20 miles a day with no trailer since and no faults, plenty of power etc...
Then today, hitched up the trailer and same thing after 3-4 miles. Thought is was the brake light fault as mentioned on here. Got to the farm, switched off loaded the sheep and unplugged the trailer wiring.
Slow to start but kicked into life after a 15-20 second crank, no faults on dash and all good 1/2 mile down the road got engine system fault, transmission fault, hdc fault, park brake fault, limited gears & suspension lowered.
Then she died about 30 secs later
Managed to pull to the side of the road and got my freelander ( and very amused dad) to tow disco into a layby and rescue the trailer (after me saying yeah we will use the disco for this as she will cope better with the big trailer than the baby land rover )
Typically my Nanocom was only posted yesterday so is not here yet...
Opened the bleed valve at the top of the engine and lots of air came out but no fuel even when cranking and no sound from the pump...
LPFP or something else??? The difference between genius and stupidity is; genius has its limits...

bobs I am hoping to get Mike to change the cambelts & oil pump soon, but I need it to be back on the road asap as I am a self employed dog trainer (it is the only car I have properly kitted out for carting 3 rotties around) and was not sure if Mike would have time to come up here and fix it tomorrow I went with the safe option of my local Indy.
With the amount of LRs me & my family have (at the moment 4 freelanders, a P38 RR, 2 Discos and a Defender) all needing tlc they do tend to give us a very good and fast service...
Also have a 1949 Series 1 which for the past 6 years has only ever seen the inside of a garage for it's MOT, and they tell me technology is progress
hopefully I will be driving it out of there tomorrow evening with a much lighter wallet The difference between genius and stupidity is; genius has its limits...

So news from the garage is that I have been very lucky
Seems that the rear timing belt broke
So so lucky it wasn't the front one Car was only 7 years old in December so not even 8 weeks overdue for a belt change...
Sorry Mikey, as I was going to get you to do it, but the rear belt breaking has scared me so have just told the garage to go ahead and change all the idler/tensioner pulleys, oil pump and both belts before she moves another inch...
However, they have all the parts in stock and started working on it at 11:00 this morning so hoping to get her back tonight The difference between genius and stupidity is; genius has its limits...

Think your garage may of scared you a bit too much and i may be wrong but i believe the only problem caused by the rear belt going is it'll die as it has for you from fuel starvation as the belt runs the hp fuel pump.
Its not like the front belt going causing engine failure

For what it's worth, I don't think your suspension fault has been cured but we'll see what happens when you get your car back if that symptom persists. Mods:

Thanks Darrell, I know that the rear belt going doesn't normally cause any damage, but what I am scared of is - if the rear belt broke then is the front belt just hanging on by it's fingernails????
Hence why I just told them to go ahead and change everything right now, instead of what I wanted to do originally which was to wait and get Mikey to do it...
The thought of engine failure enough to give me nightmares The difference between genius and stupidity is; genius has its limits...

Thanks Narpy
I am hoping that the suspension fault was just because everything else threw a wobbly cos as I understand it, the Disco 3 seems to like to drop it's suspension for anything else that goes wrong
If not I shall once again seek the wisdom of the experts here on this forum The difference between genius and stupidity is; genius has its limits...
