Broken down and need towing!! What tow points do I have???

Hi everyone, today has been a glorious start to the day. Left for work and my battery light was illuminated. A mile down the road my dash lights started to disco party, then bump! Off turned everything, even thd engine! I am now stranded and need towing. Whilst I wait for my brother to turn up and help, I can't find a front towing hitch point?! Please don't tell me they designed this car without one?!
I have no recovery cover so feeling pretty screwed right now Big Cry

Front recovery hoop is under the plastic cover, below and rear of the front bumper. 20p coin is best to remove it. But be aware it's recommended that it gets flatbed recovered, ISTR it can do damage to the gearbox or transfer box. But I may be wrong, it has been known. Thumbs Up

I'm presuming this is the cause of the blasted alternator!! What a bummer as the symptom only started this morning Neutral

Helps if you fill in your vehicle spec, we have no idea what cat you are talking about.

If the alternator light was on when you headed out then you now know how far you get. And if it is the alternator it could well have taken the battery with it.

PS here's a pic showing where the recovery point is. Happy days playing in the sand. Big Cry Big Cry

It's a 2005 tdv6 manual.
My battery light remained on after turning the car on and running it. I thought I'll nip into my local specialist at lunchtime, but no further than a mile from home all the lights on the dash started flashings and bleeping. Next thing I pulled over and as I did the engine cut out. Fortunately, the parking break is not stuck on, and being a manual I'm sure towing a mile back home should be fine?! The battery is only a year old if that...but had no other symptoms in between?! No lights were left on, nothing really!
I suppose it's all in the fun of owning one of these.. Thumbs Up
Thanks for your help so far chaps Wink

Recommend you disconnect the battery too when my alternator went it took the battery with it and the battery started to smoke.

I've just got back home with it Thumbs Up
I'll do some checks on the battery and see what's happened.. If it's ok and just needs a charge, surely I should be ok with enough juice to get it to the garage if it's the alternator?
How easy/difficult is it to replace?

You just learned the hard way that they don't travel very far when the alternator dies and you want to try it again, now with a potentially knackered battery? Confused

Are you in the RAC or something?

Get it recovered to a garage and let them sort it. You don't want to do any more damage or risk stalling it on a junction etc.
