Hi
AF in Southampton is where I got my replacement alternator. Steve is very helpful. I recommend you get the kit including the spanners as they will save you a lot of time. It took me an hour and half because I did not have the ratchet spanner not supplied as par of the kit.
The link below is very helpful.
Maybe someone should mention for future readers that there is a tow point on the rear as well, under a plastic cover. (Same coin/screwdriver required).A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

It is now illegal to tow on the road with a rope unless authorised by the police, a towing bar must be used.
D3 can be towed a limited distance or time which is dependant on battery life according to the manual and if you aint got a battery you are in the It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Not sure that is correct the Highway Code merely states that using a tow rope is potentially dangerous and you should consider professional recovery.

I got towed back soon after in style by a transit pickup
It's definitely the alternator.
I spoke to my local specialist they confirmed I can charge the battery and so long as enough juice in it will get me to the garage as I thought. BUT... I didn't like the price tag of £265 for the replacement plus 2hrs labour totalling £480!! they did recommend changing the belt also in that, and that the engine management will need resetting to erase fault codes?! so if I can get away without the computers...I think I know what I'll be doing this weekend
Thanks for the pointers... Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated! Pete
