Sounds a bit like when my D4 slide into the back of yours in Tunisia DSL Whistle
LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Back on topic though. Christmas 2013 nearly saw the end of us and the D4.

We were in the Black Forest and decided to pull in on to a open tourist spot carpark for a walk along a river gorge. We stopped the car and were just about to get out when I noticed we were actually sliding at a considerable speed sideways straight for a 5m vertical drop into the river at the bottom of the gorge. No matter what I tried, despite pucker winter tyres all four wheels got no traction. It was pure chance we caught the edge of a log lying in the show which stopped us and also gave enough sidewall traction to allow us to move forward and to safety. Never experienced anything like it before, and never want to again. Just proves, physics is a bitch if you don't watch out - or look more carefully what you are driving in/onto Whistle

Same at -20c will be dry and give lots of grip.

And there was me thinking it was my skill and expertise that won an Ice Karting competition many moons ago in Finnish Lapland at -20c. When all along I was getting Formula 1 levels of grip Big Cry

25 years ago I had a Disco 1 and I remember braking for some traffic lights in the middle of small Swiss village one evening and I then was subsequently trying to avoid taking the shop windows out on either side of the street but this is what one could have expected from Disco 1 crap
