Stu, do you need 40 or 50 litres? The MT35 is pretty big and worth a look. Would save you at least £100. (£355 plus £20 P&P) Should you later decide you need more space there's an extender section which take the capcity upto 60 litres (might fit the 45 too)

With all the kids I need all the space I can get (especially as SWMBO wants to put food in it too Rolling Eyes)

The Twozone looks pretty good though, so might be the way forward longer term - it also gives the advantage of 2 temperature zones Very Happy Thumbs Up

Hi stu,

firstly the engle is only £455.00 so that makes it cheaper for a start, there is only a 9 ltr difference between the two the weaco uses more power to cool ist extra 9 lts (you would expect this) but to me the main difference is the engle is a metal body, i think a more substantial bit of kit. This was a consideration for me because it's in the back with all the off road kit ratteling around, i plastic one would get wrecked in no time.

I've used both the Waeco and Engel in a fair few situations. As has been discussed, the Waeco Thermoelectric is a cheaper unit, and doesn't cool as well as the Engel. It's an all-plastic construction which is actually very tough.. mine has all sorts of scrapes and scars, but stand up to it very well... this of course makes it lighter than the Engel too.

My Waeco TC35 will flatten an Odyssey PC1500 over the course of a hot weekend if left unattended. It has thermostatic control, but does draw a fair chunk of current when it is working, especially in high ambient temperatures.

The Engel MT35 is slightly smaller inside, but will happily freeze the contents (as I found out to my cost the first time I went out with it Shocked ) And it is more efficient than the Waeco.. a weekend on my setup is easily managed.

Both are good units and you get what you pay for. If you want an occasional unit, which isn't too heavy for lifting in and out, which will keep your food and drinks cool then the Waeco is great. If you want a "proper" fridge which you can use for longer trips / overland travel, then the Engel will win hands-down on performance / efficiency.

Just my 2p worth Wink

I'm discussing a couple of things with the powers-that-be at the moment, so watch this space. I'll leave it at that for now..

10forcash... I'm not sure what I'd be able to trade for you ! We don't usually accept people as payment Wink

Hopefully we'll see some of you at Eastnor this weekend.. the weather forecast is looking good 8)
