About the Fridge...(Engel MT35)

- How do you usually fix the fridge in a Discovery 3 to off-roading?
- Does anyone put the fridge on a sliding try?. How is fixed this try?

Can anyone post detailed pictures about fixing the fridge?

Thanks!.

Hi Nash,

Mine is only held in with an adjustable, so quite a good fit, bungee. It is attached to the rear boot fixing loop, over the rear handle (if you know the MT35, it's well shaped for this) across the side and down over the handle at the front and fixed to the front loop.

The weight of the fridge, it's general stability and small size means it has never moved at all. An adjustable bungee is best as you need to have quite a bit of tension.

I've taken a couple of pix with my phone, which I'll add to this reply in a mo. Though I hope I make sense? Confused

Cheers,

Paul

Nash,

check out http://www.expeditionexchange.com/slidelock/

It written for a D2, but I think the same solution can be applied to a D3. I made something similar for my Defender and I have used it during some quite severe off-roading and felt secure in the knowledge that the fridge is not going to move!

Sorry but a bunge cord would not make me feel safe, but I guess it depends on how rough the going is! Whistle

Agree with you there - if you're going to extremes then maybe the slide lock is a better solution. However, I ruled this out as it bolts to the floor - fine for a 5 seater but not for a 7. In my defence, the bungee is not an off-the-shelf five for a tenna Halford's jobby, and despite severe provocation it has never moved or slid latterally or forwards and back.

If I was extreme off-roading, i.e. risk of rolling the car then I probably wouldnt have the fridge with me - then again, I probably wouldnt be in my D3. I'd be in a Defender too Thumbs Up
