Gorillas, yes! Another good one! Clint Eastwood! Brilliant sub kick-in half-way through.

Gareth,

I thought the sub woofer on my HSE didnt work. I raised it with the dealer and they admitted it didnt make much difference in the sound, but they said could test it by lowering the tailgate Shocked .

It works !! Shocked Shocked .

Lower the tailgate and get someone to adjust the sub-woofer. Place your hand on the tailgate and you can feel the base vibration as its adjusted.

So, it works, but you just cant hear it !!! Thumbs Up

Ah well, I suppose I'll just take it for granted then. There are some shops down the road, and they used to have a problem with gangs of yoofs hanging around drinking beer. So put this 'thing' on the wall to repel the intolerables.

This worked a treat, and now the gang hangs out in the village instead. But my kids can't go near the shop down the road, they hold their ears in pain when we go near. I can't hear a thing. My kids can't believe I can't hear the noise. Maybe its a 'covert' sub woofer Wink

Disco Dad,

The sub woofer operation you describe as only pertinent to systems which are unable to combine LF and normal frequencies (typically cinema systems), but the High Ice in the HSE does.

The subwoofer setting makes no audible difference to the sound unless there is a dedicated LF channel in the mix, however, turn the bass up on the tone control and the sub will.....ahem....blow the bloody doors off!

When your up front in your disco the front door speakers are full of bass so you don't notice the sub woofer in rear at all. I travelled in the 3rd row seats other day and my sub woofer is set to below half because its ripped and I've repaired it with duct tape. So it does work but if its turned up to standard setting, it farts at volume 20. More bass is needed in the back of the car so it's intended for the rear passengers. I'm going to get a new subwoofer of eBay. Just need to know difference between the XQA500080 and the XQA500120 mines the 80 but is the 120 better and what will work with my system and fit.

As I've posted many times before

My formula for best sound...

Pro-logic on
Bass 2 to 3 notches back from MAX
Treble 2 notches back from max
Balance in middle
Fader three notches to the REAR

Fading it back will turn down the front door speakers this allowing you to hear the sub
More Thumbs Up

Turn it up and enjoy....

I would do that but my sub is damaged. I'm wanting to replace it. Who knows the difference between the newer model ones XQA500120 and the older XQA500080. I have the older one

Found out by doing a bit of searching. The XQA500080 is a superceded part number for the XQA500120
