I thought the same - no woof - but on a weekend trip away, the music became more acoustic as befits the highland scenery and - yes - it was subtle but it was there. I don't notice it with the Madonna type dance music, but a bit of Karen Mathieson, Clannad or the like and the acoustic drums went wayyy downnnnnnn. Maybe it is all wishful thinking......?

Don't forget subwoofers only deal with bass sounds up to around 200hz....try putting on 'Fake' by Alexander O'Neal at around volume level 30 .......it'll blow your back window out Very Happy

I'm going to join in here! (Groooaaan, I hear you say!)

As an afficionado of all things 'Hi-Fi' for many years, and having followed the development of sub-woofers and the inclusion of sub-bass frequencies in some recordings I think I am in some way qualified to add my two-pennorth' worth. (I'm sure others will correct me if I'm wrong).

As I say, some tracks carry 'sub' frequencies either inherrent or added by studio technichians.
Most decent subwoofers (or more accurately the amplifier) will detect this extra sub-bass frequency and invoke the subwoofer (if it is necessary) to convey the lower bass notes.

So, generally speaking, the subwoofer will only 'kick in' if the track warrants it!

OK, so in the absence of Alexander O'Neal in my collection, what other tunes best demonstrate the full effect of a good sub-woofing Question

As a simple test, play 'Pure Shores' by All Saints. There are some serious, clean sub-frequencies within that track. If you can't hear them then your sub is knacked!

No DG I have not got an Ipod, but my sons have several, and they have a belkin interface that works quite well.

My kids took control of all 'on the move' entertainment last week in the Lakes, and this is what has led me to ask the question about the 'woofiness' of my 'sub', because my kids were complaining that it was just not 'sub' enough Confused

Personally, I thought my head was going to explode, but who the hell am I to argue Victor Meldrew
