Nice. I can hear the tumbleweed being blown across the platform. I'm assuming a taxi from Perth or Dundee station, as it's a mere 5'46" from London by train (leaving at a civilised 10am) and only £67 advance first with Virgin with as many free snacks and drinks as I can face and wifi so I pretend to do some work en route

Though I guess I should be more concerned about the 435 mile return journey if I end up buying something!

Will have a look tonight. If they are the white defenders, they look very similar to those used in a local quarry... 1 300TDi and a heap of very early TD5's. At that age where they will probably need welding/new chassis My D3 Build Thread

I have seen a lot newer need a lot of welding... or new chassis...
but I guess it depends what you can pick one up for?
Knowing Defenders you may struggle to get a bargain.. but there are a good few to choose from as long as they don't knock down the following lots to the first winning bidder... seen that one happen...

Alas they will be spread across all of their auction days and sites... so much less chance of getting a bargain or exactly what you want without travelling all over the shop... you can register now if you are not trade but its a bit a lions den.. Mind you I saw one of the nubie low value gumtree traders pick up 3 different cars for under £150! including a 2007 Mondeo estate with lwo miles .. and no reserve...

That was my thought - might play 'Driving Home for Christmas' in anticipation of a long one

Can pick you up in Perth or Dundee if you do head up Thumbs Up
That's kind Mike - will let you know. I think I'm interested in one of the 3 D2s (lots 312, 398 and 481) and the D3 (lot 423)

Lot 398:
Quote:
INTERIOR REQUIRES LIGHT VALET. STABILITY (?)
WARNING LIGHT ON. LHF DOOR UPPER FRAME
REQUIRES ADJUSTING. POOR QUALITY REPAINTING
TO FULL LH SIDE
Lot 423:
Quote:
INTERIOR REQUIRES REGULAR VALET FOR SMELL OF
DOG ETC. NO LOAD COVER. REAR FLOOR BOARD SO
REAR MOST SEATS NOT CHECKED. RH FOG LAMP
REFLECTOR CORRODED. UPPER TAILGATE LIGHT
TAPED AND GLUED INTO POSITION. MANY SMALL
DENTS OVER ALL ROOF.
Lot 312 looks good, but is a facelift, low mile example, and will probably fetch a premium
Lot 481 also look alright, but check the rear half of the chassis for welding repairs, and corrosion My D3 Build Thread
