Right, some quick-and-dirty current draws:
'awake' (i.e. clock displayed on IHU, LR logo on nav screen and doors closed) 6A
Door open 10A
Door open, Radio on 14A (power save mode invoked)
Door open, radio on, keyswitch in position 1 20A - no loads connected to aux. sockets
Here's the killer - doors closed & int. lights off, keyswitch off, radio on below powersave threshold 23A

some to the sat-nav, most to the amp, until the powersave kicks in, there's an active sub-woofer to take care of plus the other 13 speakers....
Chex,
Changing to a 'normal' battery would boil off the electrolyte fairly quickly - especially through winter, best case, new battery every 6 - 9 months - worst case, new battery box, BJB and bonnet due to battery explosion

If I understand this correctly, If I listen to the Cd whilst washing the car, at low volume it will draw more power than if I crank it up until it says Powersave and puts the battery symbol on the radio?

cranked up to 18 (powersave cuts in at 20 and stays in until powerdown) then yes, if you have it at a lower volume and / or no active sub, then it'll obvioulsy be a lower current draw, the IHU will still power down when the battery voltage drops, top tip is not to re-activate it more than twice - apparently
