Its happened twice in the last week...both times after an Artic has passed and buffeted the car on the drivers side.....the first time the wife was driving and I thought it was going to rip the bonnet off
The bonnet is secure and doesn't seem to have moved...can someone tell me where the sensor is located so I can have a bit of a fiddle ? "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Had this also, I found shutting it with more force got the job fixed.. Hasn't done it since.
I have read on here about a senser behind the headlight I think. You can fool it to thinking the bonnets shut. Maybe worth a forum search,. Narpy Grill, tinted windows, Smooth leather wheel (TLO Group buy), ACM fitted (thanks TLO), Rear door loom and Row 2 & 3 audio switch upgrade, RRS 20" wheel change, 285 Cooper LTZ's Sat Nav Mod (until I get a Faultmate upgrade), Front & Rear lamp guards. 4x4 screen now switched on - Woody32, Follow me home reverse lights - woody32, Auto release EPB - Woody32. Off Road Navigation - Woody32. Remap + EGR's switched off. Full chassis clean and Waxoyl.

Guys, had this the other day, the switch is below the left hand bonnet catch as you look at the car.
Removing it is really simple, just ease the plastic clamps out on the front of the switch housing, maybe use a small screwdriver, switch is below the bonnet catch, compare both sides and you will see the difference.
I then opened up the metal spring thats in the housing and gave the switch a good spray with wd40, making sure it works freely.
Really easy job.

I found the spring in mine had been greased to the point that the grease was full of crap and it ended up not springing the catch back fast enough to properly hold the bonnet down.
Switch is a micro switch below simple to replace and cheap enough too Mark.

It's such an easy fix why not do it? Last thing I would want is the bonnet flying up because the latch wasn't latched- shame there aren't two switches IMHO. Mark.
