WARNING LIGHT

December 2004 Discovery - this week had three warnings of suspension fault - normal height only available.
Having read lots of other posts do I assume this may just be a sensor problem and take it to my LR dealer?
Nothing else is happening - yet - I have extended warranty which I took out when the 3 yr ran out just to be on the safeside (been a LR owner for too many years now to trust them completely but love them too much to give them up!)
Is there a TSB number I should quote to them? Rolling Eyes

Could be one or more of the following

*The terrain response control module has not received one or more expected messages from the air suspension control module
*High speed CAN circuit communications failure
*Open circuit air suspension control module, power feed
*Open circuit air suspension control module, ground supply
*Air suspension control module disconnected from the high speed CAN communication bus
*Open circuit air suspension control module high speed CAN low circuit
*Open circuit air suspension control module high speed CAN high circuit
*Air suspension control module not configured
*Air suspension control module failure

Needs further diagnosis via DTC's TBH Wink

Height calebration may need to be re-done.

Calibration
A calibration routine is performed using the Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment to access the position of each corner of the vehicle, and record the settings in the ECU memory. Once set, the calibration is not required to be performed unless the air suspension control module is removed or replaced, a height sensor is removed or replaced or a suspension arm to which the sensor is connected is removed or replaced. If the removed height sensor is subsequently refitted, the calibration procedure will have to be performed to ensure the integrity of the system.

If the air supply unit, the reservoir, a valve block, a damper module or the air harness is removed or replaced, the system will not require recalibration.

I think you need a dealer. Whistle

United States 2006 LR3 4.4 V8 SE Auto Chawton WhiteLR3

Two months ago, noticed that right rear of my MY06 LR3 was sitting and riding lower than the rest of the corners. Off road mode, extended mode, didn't matter. It was not that big of a deal so I let it go. Noticed last week that it was getting more pronounced, also that my right rear tire was wearing more than the others, for obvious reasons as more weight was being pu on it with the truck leaning...

So I took it in to the dealer and they recalibrated the suspension and had to manually adjust the right rear so it was even with the rest of the vehicle. They said it was good and to come get it.

Immediately upon driving away I noticed the ride was lower and significantly rougher...Every bump caused the vehicle to shake and jerk. The vehicle was in what appeared to be Access mode but thought it was Normal mode. If I went into Off road mode the rear would rise up immediately but only to where normal mode used to be. The front would begin rising extremely slowly but make it up to not quite where normal used to be.

If I went down into access mode it would go dangerously low and then after three seconds would flash a suspension in suspended mode image and inflate the rear to off road height and the front would slowly try to catch up...

All this to say that I left it with the dealer overnight and they have come to the conclusion that it is a bad right rear sensor. They "think" that after they replace it, which will cost $210, it "should" take care of the problem, but that with electronic equipment, you can never be sure so they are not guaranteeing anything.

Will get it back on Friday, hopefully back to factory norm.

Suspension Failure

I hope someone can assist me.

I have experienced the follow twice now: After driving through very wet patches on the road, I go the warning that "Suspension Failure, Normal ride hight selected" after a day or so (after drying) no problem.

Could it only be a sensor that is exposed?

Check connections to the height sensors. There is a connection behind the passenger wheel arch lining that can become coroded.

Conrad, Height calibration with the LR IDS or Autologic can be a pain. Having trouble with mine at the moment. The system asks for the heights and then nanny works out what value you need. Most will just keep adding different values until it accepts them. Rolling Eyes

PLEASE HELP

I still have suspension failure. Amber light comes one and error "Suspension error, normal hight only"

It has happened 3 times driving through water and twice under normal driving conditions

D3 in now twice to different dealers.

Dealer 1: Loaded new sofware for diff and actuator?
Problem came back as soon as I hit water patches

Dealer 2: Re-calibrated the suspension, oh and by the way informed that both diffs need replacement Big Cry
After driving off from dealer 2, normal driving conditions, error came up again.

Can anyone help me to help the dealers in pointing them in the right direction? This up and down to dealers are driving me insane. What could the problem be? Most of the times, switch off the car or wait untill dry and no errors?

Possibly a connector issue. Most likely the ones behind the wheel liner of the FPS. Idea

Get the dealer to check the wiring for corrosion or damage.

I see that Caterpillar are supposedly the manufacturers of the compressor. Has anyone got one in hand that they can check for part numbers? The Cat cat part numbers are usually seven digits e.g. 141-4536. If someone can get me a number I can cross reference this through the Cat system and check price and availability. Looks like I need one for my tub so would be keen for any information.
