Mine's averaged 23.29mpg actual over the last 5,000 miles but varies from worst of 20 to best of almost 27 depending on whether it is used for short runs or longer ones.
Definitely worse in cold weather when FBH is on (assuming it works, course!) and has got worse over last few hundred miles but is in the dealer today for an EGR valve so that might help it!MY11 Disco 4 SDV6 HSE

What a great thread... it makes my V8 (indicated) 17.8mpg seem pretty good; clearly I need to give it some more thrape to get the consumption right down.
Tesco's last night, diesel was 6p a litre more than unleaded; with a purchase price of £8k, it's almost bordering on a sensible decision!

not done any maths to calculate true mpg but mine normally shows 27 when knocking about locally but was showing 32 on a run to the lake district 2 weeks ago and 31 on a run to north wales last weekend so allowing for the usual 10%ish errors still well chuffed with that!

My auto over the last 2249 miles has averaged 24.97mpg
Best was 28.53 and worst was 22.83. Not bad for mixed driving in winter.
Will see how my new tyres affect the mpg over the next few months. In loving memory of FA54WSK.
Rest well old friend, your work is done.

17 to the Gallon what you got under the hood must be a V8.
mine will get 25 now the FBH is working better ( Thanks to Pete at BAS controller ) but still not as good as i want it, so checked temp reading on engine scanner and found only making about 76 deg and temp gauge sits below halfway, so have got a new thermostat, hope to do this weekend.
Thermostats also wear out Graham

my trip comp (reset at every fill up) can be as much as 5mpg higher than a brim to brim fill up actually works out at. At its best its 3mpg out (higher), so for all those with auto's thinking the MPG isnt too bad, is it? its it really??
I've seen my trip comp showing 16mpg if I drive it like its been nicked, so in reality, 13 or 14mpg maybe.
Yet next day, on a staedy motorway cruise, 32/33 (so 29 actual). I've never driven something with such a wide variation.

I've had as low as 12mpg, dune bashing plus road bits in Tunisia, up to 36mpg, long haul down the M6. Both actual. And had everything inbetween. Averaged fuel use over 101k is 25.88mpg, with probably 80% of that sitting on the motorway at 60mph. Someone's got to keep the oil companies in profits.

Blank them with a couple of 2pence pieces. If your MPG improves, time to invest in some decent SS blanks.
