DAB RETROFIT (working)
Ordered myself a kit from dabs on wheels, which integrates into the oe system (hi line) £150 so it's worth a punt. Halfords do them too for the same price but haven't got the Landrover ones listed as yet...
Will do a few piccies and the usual blerb
What this space.......

Well that went ok, did the egr blanking, was easier than expected
Even for my dainty mitts
And just as I was putting the engine cover back on...
Little miss postie turned up with my dab unit.
Let the car sleep then headunit out and plugged it all in, did
Antenna was the most tricky bit I will come back to that...
Did a test run with it all hanging out the dash and it worked blooming
Well.
So stuffed it all back in to the right of the oe headunit and put dash back together
And went off to try my egr blanks and absolute 80's on dab...
Until...
I touched the volume on steering wheel and volume went up about four
Notches and head unit and steering wheel controls became
Non responsive
Resets after car sleeps until you touch the vol control on steering wheel
Even does it if you unplug dab unit from harness so I'm thinking the harness
Is faulty or the plug into the oe headunit as that was a very tight fit.
Checked for any chafing or loose pins, ran It again and still jammin
So it's back in the box for now, apart from the antenna as that is stuck fast.
I have emailed dabsonwheels and await their reply, to be fair their return policy looks good but
Like I told them I don't want a refund.....
Just a solution
If it gets resolved then I will
Post pics and my how to do the antenna
As for the egr test drive
I did 20ish miles and the mpg was creeping up, response is so much better
And the auto for some reason, changes smoother, and is selecting more appropriate
Gears.
My imagination to the above? Defiantly not.

Didn't do too many pics as I was engrossed in it all lol
Mainly ones of how I routed the antenna wires and where I stuck it
Hope dabsonwheels comes up trumps as it was really good while it worked
And just put a dab unit in wifeys Flander today too and that
Works really well

Sounds good so far. Post back with the new installation and a review of the unit itself, especially mobile DAB reception.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Coffee in my case..... and Strong Yom Yom
Will let you know how it goes,
Dab on wheels said usually the returned unit goes back to the manufacturer for bench testing but on this occasion they have authorised a straight replacement
even typed in my reg no on Autodab's website and it came up ok, but still that little bit of doubt in my mind that it aint gonna work

so....
im not one to give in
emailed the supplier for the number of the tech team at manufacturer and again very quick in response
got the number, rang autodabs technical..
as soon as I said disco3, he butted in and said "volume going up and jamming, yes sir there is a faulty batch out there and you have got one of them) (again lol)
He said they definatly work on a D3 (except this batch that has the wrong resistors in)
great!! I can wait for and updated version.....
so waiting on supplier to get one and send it to me..

Looking forward to hearing the outcome of this. I really want to fit DAB, but am a bit put off by the reports that glass mounted aerials are rubbish.
