I'm nervous about removing too many panels as I'm rather ham fisted. Plus I didn't really want to extend the cable as I don't even know the best way to do so!

Tried fitting ariel cables to existing ariels in rear quarter glass today, used wire glue one on each side with built in amplifier, but changed back to plastic ones supplied with unit as reception was better. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Interested in what the head unit displays when you're tuned into a station. Do you have any photos of that?
For example, does it display the scrolling DAB text like my Vita Audio DAB and like the DAB in SWMBO's VW Golf does?
BBC Radio 6Music (fixed)
Now Playing: I'LL TAKE YOU THERE by Staple Singers (scrolling text)

Appears that bad batch is still around. Installed the AutoDAB today, apart from still not getting good reception, the unit locks up whenever you press the volume up on the steering wheel. Different supplier from the OP, DynamicSounds.co.uk in my case, but same problem. Lets see how their customer service compares. 56 D3 HSE / 05 Porsche Boxster S

DAB working, well apart form the poor reception. So the AutoDAB unit was replaced following an exchange with Connects2 (the manufacture), my unit had the serial number:
007090305-12-01150812
According to Conencts2 the 12 in middle of number should be 14 for it to not have the hang on volume button issue with our cars. They also said "But it still may not work correctly because we don't list your vehicle to work with our kit because we have never tested in that model vehicle before, but it does sound like is working apart from the volume issue."
Interesting that they don't officially support the Discovery 3, but the new version does seem to work. I just need to get a better aerial. 56 D3 HSE / 05 Porsche Boxster S

Humm interesting..
when I rang connects2 the enginneer assured me, this unit is designed for D3/RRS 04> and the problem with the hanging volume was due to a resistor of the wrong value fitted to a batch. (of which I received a couple)
Mine has always performed flawlessly since fitment and only a couple of signal drop outs, but cetainly not a poor signal
anyhooo this is all by the by now as ive recently ripped it out and replaced it with a ACM for my iphone/tunes
I only listened to Absolute 80/90's and got fed up with tooo many adverts
Flack now has the Dab unit and pm'd to say its working fine
