Yours is actually the 7th back on the right cold_n_wet.
It's the one that you almost can't see amongst all the others
But at least it is definately there
Hiya ieuan
Thanks for your post and freely airing your very valid questions and concerns, daft, stupid or otherwise. Even i was once very new to the D3 and all of this kinda stuff, so fully appreciate and understand your situation.
It simply plugs into the OBDII connector that is found just above the pedals, somewhere between the Accelerator and Brake pedals.
Once connected, we have specifically made it so super easy and intuative to use that there really is no need of any detailed user manual.
If anyone should require any additional help, we have provided a dedicated Nanocom Owners support forum where my support staff will be only to happy to help and assist any owner with any problem or requirement.

Hi Colin
A slightly convolued question from me, I hope you don't mind.
I currenly own a D3, when I eventually change vehicle it will be a D4, my father in law owns a freelader 2.
I note this tool is not VIN locked. I also note that yuo are not ready for the FL2 yet, but hope to be soon.
Will one tool be able to cover the three vehicles?

That sounds like a plan that i supect many others will also be following ieuan
However make sure she does not see it, as it is certainly not a cheap looking or feeling unit and she will definately not believe how little it actually costs
Martin, Yes it can be used to enable the 4x4 info, which is just a simple case of editing your vehicles CCF. But this is just one of the many hundreds of things it will allow you to change as the system does provide the ability to edit absolutely EVERY SINGLE possible setting in the vehicles Car Configuration File.
Here is a link to a You tube video showing it being used to enable the 4x4 info
You will notice that for ease and convenience we use our on line Genesis system to do the actual editing of the CCF, which creates a file you pop on the SD card, plug into the Nanocom and then program into the vehicle. There is no need for back up's as you can always save a completly origional and un edited file.
Regards access to Genesis, this is free and fully automatic
When customers first register their units on the Nanocom web site, they get a user name and Password automatically e-mailed to them that provides access to the restricted area of the nanocom web site that contains their licence / Unlock codes as well as to Genesis.
Genesis is really quite clever because it does not require you to provide a copy of your vehicles CCF data to be edited, but by virtue of a bit of BBS magic, simply requires you to enter your vehicles VIN number.
We have set up a demo account on Genesis for anyone who wants to try this for themselves, even with their own VIN, and you can find all the URL, log in details and a pictorial overview of how to use it on this thread. Although the layout may have changed a little.

Yes, you can add as many models as you like to the same unit, and quite a few existing Nanocom owners, and there are a vast number of existing owners, will also be now be adding CAN BUS vehicles to their units.

Me too
The reason that it has taken us so long to get to where we are currently at with this is simply because we are not writing the software functions for specific CAN BUS vehicle models.
Instead the diagnostic functions we are developing are being written in a way that makes them generic to all CAN BUS vehicle models and all their ECU's.
Of course there are some differences between the different models, but the intelligent vehicle detection function has been designed to automatically accomodate that via look up information for each and every current Model and Model year.
However, as standardised as these CAN BUS vehicle systems should be, we often encounter problems in specific cases that we have to find a generic way to resolve.
But at least every problem we have to resolve makes the system more intelligent, flexible and accomodating and much more likely to just work as it should on other models.
As such, although we could release the licences / unlock codes for all models from the very start, and it is most likely that everything would work, we really would prefer to test the software ourselves on every model before we do so.
But of course that is dependant upon time and test vehicle availiability

Yep, the Nanocom Evolution has already become the tool of choice for all owners of earlier non Can Bus Land Rover models and has already gained a hard earned reputation for it's low cost, reliability and outstanding diagnostic abilities. There is currently no such thing as a second hand Nanocom Evolution which speaks volumes
With coverage of all CAN BUS vehicles, especially in the super easy and intelligent way we are adding it, i am quite sure that it will quickly also become the tool of choice for owners of CAN BUS vehicles.

Without going through 8 pages and to clarify, is there anything that this cannot do, which other systems can?

Hopefully you may remember from our e-mail conversations I have been slowly aquiring bits and pieces to do a full ++HSE type upgrade to my S-Spec D3 in similar fasion to the one you did some years ago.
Part of my saving was going to be for a MSV-2 however I am only a "hobbyist" and TBH probably wouldnt use the MSV-2 to its full potential. With the CCF/ECU flashing and FCR/Service reset functions of this unit you have given us......"non professional".........owners everything in one neat and brilliantly affordable piece of kit.
The saving over the MSV-2 alone means I will hopefully be able to finish my project much sooner than anticipated.
Thanks for the heads up you gave me a couple of months ago to wait for this.......
Will definately be ordering one for Christmas......... Shhhhh......nobody tell SWMBO From the Factory: '05 Java Black D3 S-spec, Manual, Heated Fr & Rear Seats, Cruise, HK High Line.
Mods from me: D4 Bluetooth PTI, Napa Leather Smooth Wheel & New Gearstick Gaiter, De-tango'ed Light clusters, RRS Grille Mod, Hid's4u L.E.D's in every bulb holder, Centre Cubby Fridge, Colour coded front bumper with front PDC, fogs and halo DRL's. Dash vent illumination mod. More power sockets.

Hi Colin,
Congrats! Sounds like a really neat new product. This may even slow us down a bit...
JK
One thing that would interest me personally (not just professionally): where exactly are the big differences to the MSV?
