Hi Guys, I'm happy to report that my D4 retro fit camera is nor fully functional Smile

after some sound advice and a visit from CDS to confirm that the CCF file was correctly set I took the advice of stenh02 and checked the wiring connections and sure enough the fakra connection on the back of the nav screen had come off, broken off in fact and damaged the plug Sad luckily I managed to swap the cable round and was a little more careful putting the unit back in the dash, a little PVC tape on the damaged under the gear selector and and hey presto it all works..... Very Happy

Thanks for all the help and advice of the forum members

Seems later wheels need activated but earlier ones don't - not sure why. You will probably need a new clock spring as well. There are more threads if you search.

Thumbs Up

There are two settings to change.

Check you have activated both with the Faultmate.

Hi stenh02,

Thank you all for this excellent thread. I've just finished retrofitting a reversing camera to my MY14 Discovery. (SDV6 SE in Australia) http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/208154...all-8.html

A question though. I now have it working with guidelines (although they don't seem to bend)

For the settings above I wanted to confirm the actual values set?

I have it working with these settings:
Park assist camera : Park assist camera
and
Parking camera : Fitted

but all the comparisons I did (on Blackbox Genesis for my Nanocom) to other VINs with factory fitted reversing cameras had:
Park assist camera : Rear camera only

This didn't work.

Just wondering if I have some other setting not quite right...?

Thanks,
David

Is it the same camera and loom part numbers for MY15?

I'm defiantly going to fit this Smile Didn't realise it would be that easy!

As per post above I've just done this with my MY14 - no guarantees but assume it will be similar

Parts list I used:
1 x 1m Fakra Z female cable like this: (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GPS-1m-Antenna-Extension-Cable-FAKRA-Female-Female-Code-Z-Adapter-Pigtail-/120993869660?hash=item1c2bcbef5c)

1 x LR043493 - camera

1 x LR071911 (replaces LR015458) - micro switch with camera wiring - this provides power and video connection from camera to next loom

2 x 6g x 16mm self tapping screws to fix camera

1 x LR021100 - tailgate loom with camera wiring

6 x FYC 500040 - clips for radio / air vents trim (these are a precaution in case any pop off during removal of the trim and vents around the head unit )

A quick additional update on this. BBS have advised that to get the bendy yellow lines going to reflect input from steering may require a flash update but files not available yet.

They're investigating...

I'll post an update when I hear anything.

Meanwhile very happy to have a working reversing camera, even if the lines don't bend!

Ok guys the wiring is definitely not pre fitted to my 2010 XS Sad

As you can see in the pic below I have the new loom coming through the tailgate but there is no fakra and no green/black connector on the car:

I am happy I can just run my own fakra up the middle of the car to the nav unit. What about the black/green, I assume this is live and earth. Do these transmit any signal or can I just take a positive feed off somewhere up the back of the car such as the rear 12v power outlet in the boot?

Rob

I have the same project ongoing to my 2011. I assume that that black is negative and green is +12V for camera loom?

Thanks for great pictures!

Hi guys, thread resurrection

I already have the reverse camera fitted from factory, but I want to fit one of these to the front to have low-down forward visibility when off-road:

Reading up on this thread it would seem that my D4 has a 6-pin connector block instead of the Fakra connectors. How can I confirm this without prying open the dash?

How would I wire this camera into the block in order to have the extra video shown via the diagnostics screen?

Thanks

gear stick is 6 pin connector, rotary gear change is fakra.

No idea how you would get it to show 2 camera images. Would likely be easier to get a dedicated screen for the forward cam.

thanks, any advice on how to wire the extra camera into the screen with the 6-pin connector?

To clarify, I'm not trying to see two camera feeds at the same time - I only want to see the forward feed when I am offroad, which I can switch to via the diagnostics screen.

if you have a factory rear cam, then the 6 pin connector will be used by it. a google search found this thread: http://www.instructables.com/community/Tog...s-on-one-/ but I have no idea if the LR 6 pin screen connector is set up the same. You probably just need some sort of switch which has both cameras wired in on 1 side and then 2 wires outputting to your screen, then switch between them as required.

not sure I am understanding this correctly...

with the 6-pin connector, is there no AUX input, that I can switch to via the diagnostics screen?
