When I went on a LRE day the guy told me that you would have more success with the voice commands if you try to speak with an American or Australian drawl. I figured that this was probably a wind up but could not resist trying it. It does actually seem to work for me and it makes it much more fun (but it makes anyone else in the car cringe).
I actually find it works better to use a slightly upper crust English Accent!Have a nice day!

Must agree, the wife gets understood perfectly but unless I speak like a member of the royal family it doesn't want to know. Causes much amusement with kids and wife though
I am confused, I have a SE 2006, its a whatever radio comes in that spec and has ordinary sat nav. Does this mean that I should be able to "command" the audio to change station etc, or voice "command" the sat nav?
(I do have two little levers on the right hand side of the steering wheel and whenever I have had a play it says it's listening... if only the bl**dy dogs would that would be a big help)
HI JOLLYBODGER
your 2006 se spec is the same as mine and i went through all this with mine from new and the dealer had it time and time again and they eventually found out that the voice command is only standard in the hse model so unless you have the upgraded sat nav it will not do any voice commands sorry
cheers shawnbali blue disco 4 with rear dvd's, privacy glass, pre heat system, heated steering wheel, full size spare, piano black trim, ipod cable, 20 inch wheels and i love it loads more than my TDV8 RRS, KTM 250 EXC 2 Stroke for the real off road stuff

I know this thread is quite old but I have had the same problem with my new 07MY. I can get the phone recognition to work but no joy at all with the sat nav. Can someone confirm categorically that voice recognition is not available for Satnav on the 207 SE? Should it work on the Audio?
Voice Nav and Voice Audio only work with the Premium Nav and Super Duper Audio. I'm afraid you're stuck with voice commands for 'phone only, provided you have the Bluetooth TPI on yours.
I'm looking for hidden voice commands and tried "Car, Invade Poland" the other day but it just replied with "Sorry?" in that slightly patronising voice. Still, worth a try.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

The Supa Dupa HK Audio is fitted to the 2007 SE but I just went out and tried it - no luck. Bummer.
The 06 has the Premium but not the Premium Logic wotsit. Oi fink. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

The VR can understand my son but chooses to ignore me.
But she is repentant, because when I start shouting abuse she does apologise.FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. Cost so much I must be mad!
D4 HSE 2012 Like a second wife, more expensive but goes better! I almost cried this time!
D3 HSE 2006 (Almost 8 years together, true love)
Land Cruiser VX 1994 11 years together, wife cried when I p/ex'd for my D3
In mine, it always seems to help if I keep my voice down... if I try yelling at the thing "Nigel" comes back at me in that patronizing voice to say "Sorry?" or "Command Not Recognized".
But if I say it in a nice normal conversational tone, it seems to work every single time.
Well, unless I am showing it off to someone, then it is guaranteed to not work!
