" front corner air suspension height reading at the speed it occurs just to check that the air bag is ok"
How do I get to do that?
Steering rack next on the check list to do as a donor, initial visual looks to be ok. Paul.

needs to be driven whilst IDS/SSDS is plugged in.
going back to the wheel alignment, has this been done to LR spec, ie put in to tight tollerance as there has been a heck of alot of "4 wheel alignments" done by tyre shops that seem to be doing a d3 as any other vehicle.
From personal experience I had mine done twice by inde (or their agent) and then done correctly by LR which if I recall took around 2 hours to do/set up the suspension etc.
just a though........I assume you've checked the height of the air suspension for any obvious differences:
on flat ground with all doors closed and the car running (nothing in the boot of any weight)
1) take a tape measure and measure from the centre wheel cap of each wheel to the underside of the plastic wheel arch. Any large differences might indicate a soon to fail height sensor or that it needs recalibrating as the car.
just another thought.....the wheels are OEMLR I assume and NOT after market OR COPIES ie they have all the correct part no's etc
2) does the vehicle automatically brake using traction control (ie alittle amber triangle might flash on for a fraction of a second - could be a symptom of the above as the car thinks its cornering even though its in a straight line, check tyre pressures and swop wheels over corner to corner
My thoughts are more towards software/recalibration of something like height sensors/possible replacement if yer tech can see no obvious wear of mechanical parts.
One thing you've not mentioned is are there any fault codes logged ? Does yer inde have autologic or LR IDS?
Might be worth paying for a days access to topix.co.uk to see what tech bulletins are listed by LR for such an issue?

Paul is using a franchised Land Rover garage. And to be honest they have been great with him, unfortunately the D3 has them baffled. Just as an after thought would a roof rack have any bearing on this? Just a thought Club N.E.R.D.s

Just had the 4 wheel alignment done again & a slight tweak on the steering rack yesterday, steering now a lot firmer & vibration has reduced somewhat.
The vibration is still there, however hard to guage due to road conditions at the moment.
There seems to be a bit of play in the wishbones so i'm going to get those replaced, thoughts are that at some point on reconstruction the steering rack may have been returned slightly off centre, so that will be looked at at the same time, fingers crossed all this added to previous work will cure the issue.
Guys at TVLR have been awesome & getting another specialist to look is no slight on them, i just thought a different set of eyes/minds may kick things on.
I won't mention the main dealer where 1st 4 wheel was 'done' but it's not hard to work out, just another reason to add to this list of why i'll never walk through their door again. Paul.

Seering angle sensor seems may be causing stability control to activate when it shouldn't. Calibrate and check for damage to wiring? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Hi Paul / Jester,
Did the wishbone bushes make any difference?
Got a wobble at 50ish when braking on my 160k mile disco3...

Forgotten all about this.
Change of wishbones worked for a while then it came back, removed the rack & all was well, simple thing & it caused a big headache.
Different rack went on - no issues
Hope that helps Paul.

That's interesting... For the last 4 years the dealer has told me my rack is on the way out... Maybe it has finally given up!
I get the rapid knock-knock-knock on braking and seen the play in the bushes so I was *wishing* my steering wobble on braking at 50 was due to the wishbones...

I didn't get knocking, just a serious wheel shake, felt a lot better in general after being done though Paul.

Brief update... Had the two lower wishbones replaced last November and it seems to have solved the knock-knock-knock on braking. Several months and several thousand miles and no hint of a return.... Here's hoping!

Regarding suspension heights
If the car is on a slightly sloped drive with the car off
Is is normal for the car to sit slightly to one side?
eg
front left floor to wheel arch 78cm
front right floor to wheel arch 79cm
rear left floor to wheel arch 81cm
rear right floor to wheel arch 82cm
NB left side of car was on the side of the drive sloping slightly downwards, and the car was off.

Aman,
I'd say your drive slopes 10mm over the 2m or so width of car to allow water to run away.
Get a long straight edge with spirit level on it to check from where you took your measurements.

Hi Alan
Yes my driveway probably slopes more than 10mm across the width of the car - maybe even 100mm
But shouldn't the distance between the ground and my wheel arches be the same on both sides - even if the ground is sloping?
I took the measurements from the floor next to each wheel - to the underside of each arch
Cheers
