I have used 2SO for about 6 years on 4 cars, 3 LRs fitted with DPFs 1 Merc without.
When sufficient people say the engine has less diesel clatter it ceases to be entirely subjective. Pretty much everyone who uses it agrees the engine is quieter.
In all my time I have never had a DPF problem, despite doing far too many very short journeys.
The cost is almost irrelevant, and a lot cheaper that the "premium fuels" which in my experience do not deliver anything, including improved MPG. Owning a LR MPG is only significant as a health check because if you were really worried about the cost you wouldn't own one. They are not exactly cheap to run.
I have just inspected my MAP sensor. The car has 51,000 miles on the clock and I have never cleaned it. However, it has run on 2SO for 13 months. It looked as it was fitted today.
My wife's car, a non DPF Merc E320 which we bought at 3 years old with an MOT smoke test reading of 1.35, now has a reading of 0 for 3 years running. Tester believed his machine was at fault so repeated it, still 0. His comment was " your car pushes out fresh air." I don't believe him but it's a lot cleaner than it was, and the pipes are not black, more grey like the DPF pipes.
I haven't seen for myself but I have it on good authority that stripped engines run on 2SO are much cleaner and that includes things like EGRs and glowplugs.
Finallly, never ever heard of anyone having any sort of problem after using 2SO, except for an unfortunate FL2 guy, who, after filiing up and adding 2SO for the first time shuddered to a halt after 1/2 a mile. He was straight on his phone posting to everyone not to do it. Towed in and they drained the petrol from his tank and everything was fine. Probably saved by a bit of 2SO. FFRR Westminster TDV8

I read through too....it convinced me not to 2SO BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics

Sorry to ask, yes its about 2stroke |
|
Hi All, I know you guys have all been over this subject a lot but I can't really find what I am looking for. I understand what 2 stroke to use (mineral low ash) and 5ml per litre of diesel and I can see how it can be of benefit. My actual question is would it be advisable to start to do this on a 120K old engine or is this best left alone.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

which mineral 2T to use for DPF diesels? please post a pic |
|
as above
I currently run my D3 06 non dpf on cheapo mineral 2T but I have just got a Mercedes CLS 350CDi Brabus that I wish to run this with 2T.
Can you please advise me of what you all use in your post 07 DPF D3's or D4s
Is there a jaso FC/FD rated mineral 2T that people use? as most ive looked at are semi synthetic and I understood it HAD to be mineral only??? Or am I mistaken
Many thanks

I have ran out of millers and have decided to go down the 2 stroke route...
Only problem is finding some, somewhere local.
All supermarkets don't have any.
Halfrauds doesn't seem to be in spec.
Where is everyone buying from.
Screwfix list some but unsure of spec....
Anyone any ideas 05 D3 SE

The only 2 stroke in asda is Castrol power 1 2T.
Its spec is Jaso FD. Is'nt this fully synthetic ?
I thought you had to use mineral ! 05 D3 SE

The full explanation of which 2SO to use as well as the percieved benefits is on the Freel2 site. It's a very long read but better than a lot of books I've read. The OP is a German lady engineer username Yamaha Fan and her posts are very interesting. She also gets a lot of s t from the disbelievers.
In summary what she says is:
Non DPF cars use JASO FB at 200:1
DPF cars use JASO FC same ratio
Mineral if possible but only because it's cheaper there are no problems with semi or fully synthetic.
Don't use JASO FD. It's formulated for high reving maritime engines and contains additives and extra detergents that may, note the word "may" not will, harm DPFs.
You can use FC in non DPF cars it's just cheaper to use FB.
I have followed this advice and have only seen benefits. FFRR Westminster TDV8
