For anyone who is still interested, Castrol Actevo 2T JASO FC currently on sale in Tesco for £1.50/litre. Shelf ticket said £5.50 reduced to clear, but was £1.50 at till. I bought all they had at Tesco Extra St Rollox, Glasgow. Will be going back soon to see if they have re-stocked.

Don't forget the oil pump. Read up on this forum about it. 07 Discos are prone to a casing fault onto which sits the timing belt tensioner. Hopefully yours has been replaced, if not then you should seriously look into replacing it. Sorry to potentially alarm you, but forewarned is forearmed. Look up any thread relating to 'oil pump' or 'timing belt tensioner'. 2007 Disco3 2.7 tdv6 SE

Terraclean & Auto box servicing. |
|
When i got my Discovery 3 the first thing i did was to get it Terracleaned after watching Wheeler Dealers on TV. I then got 27.5 MPG of a V6 2.7 DT.
It seemed to work for me I also had my L322 done at the same time the results were good Improving the MPG on the 4.4 V8 from 15.5 to 19.5 on a 2002 car driving from Tavistock to Bideford each day. I am not sure adding TSO would make any difference and would it invalidate my warranty.
Would i recommend Terraclean and Edd Chinas kit Yes if you have a spare £250.
The next question i have is I want to get my Auto gearbox serviced on my Disco 3. Had this done on my L322 and three weeks late it cost 5K to have it replaced with a new one.
Is it best to take it back to Land Rover or let my trusted garage do iy any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks again members

I was recommended 2SO from another forum member due to my disco struggling to start in cold weather (taking a good 4-5 seconds for the engine to turn over).
Must admit, I did my research about 2SO online and there's a massive difference of opinion, must have spent hours trolling through various forums and long winded threads (including this one!) but in the end I decided that there was more good posts than bad and most of the people saying not to use it hadn't even tried it themselves
I filled the tank right up and then put a full bottle of Comma 2 Stroke Mineral Oil 500ml (£5 in a local garage) in and went for a day driving about the moors, covered about 200-250 miles (lost track).
The next day I decided to have a small test, purposely got up early knowing it would be freezing and tried starting the car, still took longer than I'd like but there was a definite improvement and overall much less "spluttering to life" noises from the engine during start-up.
While running the engine also seems smoother/quieter and I swear I can feel more of a pull when accelerating.
All of this after 1 tank! Very impressed. I've ordered 5 litres of Comma 2 Stroke Mineral Oil off Amazon (£25) and I'll be adding 500ml for the next 2 tanks then dropping down to about 400ml thereafter for the foreseeable future.

Hmm, here's an interesting argument against using 2SO, could lead to increased injector nozzle deposits and DPF damage, have a read and make your own mind up
