Some two stroke oils will improve the smooth running and fuel economy of the car, there are many threads on here about it. But I just wanted to check that fully synthetic oil was ok.

100 miles into first ever tank with 2s in. Lumpy as this morning on idle. Was fine before. Seems quieter and a bit smoother to be fair but lumpy as SWMBO's custard when I started the D3 up this morning. Cleared after 2 or 3 mins but unimpressed so farD3 2005 TDV6 7 Seat Zambezi Silver

It's up to you as to what to buy, but just a couple of posts above your own there is a suggestion and a link.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
I go along with those who have added TSO & felt some improvements in q"running" smoother by whatever measure you use for smoothness.....& there are those who have experienced zero.
TSO was meant for 2 stroke engines that have no sump oil added to petrol it makes lubriol that lubricates big & small ends + cylinders the engine induction system draws this through the bits that have to be lubed..... I realise that three more sophisticated engines but in the main the TSO in a 2 stroke is total loss..... Blue smoke.
Adding this to a diesel can (to me that is) have two possible effects:
1) Lubricating pumps, injectors etc before fuel is compressed & injected......which is entirely possible
2) lubricating valves (inlet & exhaust), maybe the turbocharger vane system & possibly the engines piston rings (which would be great if he TSO acted as an UCL upper cylinder lubricant) that is if the oil survives the combustion process.....this I have to doubt.....if there is an oil that could do this it would be great & worth using but....a big but surely if any of the TSO survives it would create an environmental hazard "smoke"
I'm sure we have all tried the diesel additives (STO, Wynns, Millers, the stuff sold at KwikFit outlets) & I believe these are cleaners for the pumps & injectors, a cetane booster & maybe an UCL.....but being honest the effect is usually short lived. Maybe there is an additive that does all its supposed to & is a permanent fix....if this is possible it would be a great product with a very wide market.
I too have dabbled with TSO & I have tried to convince myself that there was some improvement may power or mpg or smoothness or even noise but to be truthful I have seen a big fat zero difference.
So to me it's the Kings Invisible Clothes......all in the mind. So I have saved a fortune in not using TSO
I have just had the MAF sensor replaced & the EGR's blanked (like many others) & I'm told I will see & feel a difference with this....but I'm not holding my breath
I'm sure that there will be countless posts telling me & everyone else I have totally missed something - I know that I don't need to worry about being shot down here..... But I would love to know the technical advantage/s real or otherwise with TSO.
I don't believe in witch craft or the supernatural so maybe my whole head will be re arranged with being told the truth about TSOBREXIT - done properly.

Time to STOP using 2so it seems, especially in my D2
Have to say thats the best article I have seen so far as it involves proper testing, Im going to give it a miss for a few tankfuls and see what if any difference I notice.
