| Disco 3 4.4 engine slow to turn over |

Can anyone help. I have a Disco 3 4.4 and recently the engine is very slow to turn over then speeds up and starts. I have have the alternator checked and it is ok. The battery has also been checked and is ok.
When starter motors start to fail do they give similar symptoms?
Any advice appreciated.

Update.
RAC coming to collect car as will not start, guess this may be a good thing as at least the Garage will be able to identify the failed component.
