Someone in Oz had one put on their D4 and they did a software install for it.

After speaking with LR technical support yesterday:
Software has been available since sept 2011 for the Disco 4& the Hitachi compressor can be updated to the AMK, the software update is due to incorrect drive currents for controlling compressor exhaust valve. Requires SDD DVD129.06 and Calibration File 104 loaded or later
The software for the D3 hasn't been released yet, no actual release date has been given, but seems like the end of october.
regards
Steve

Does it require a new compressor cover and if so have LR taken the opportunity to change its apparent similarity to a jacking point?Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
In accordance with EU labelling directive 10lc4tz' the new cover will have a picture of a distressed cat accompanied by the words "oh noes, i haz needz new compressah!"
At least that way there's a fighting chance that Dwayne at KwikFeckit may get the reference. Or at least post evidence of the damage he does to your car in a comedy YouTube video from his iPhone.

So no bank of capacitors to zap anyone inserting a spigot into the drain hole or pressure-sensitive flame throwers to singe those who jack without looking?
Perhaps these new features are part of the Oct software release; it would explain the delay.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Al,
but the reason I was wondering if I could fit the AMK compressor is because I need a compressor, bracket & cover for a RRS, as the customer, after reading the handbook, jacked the whole weight of the car on the compressor, as the little screw hole on the bottom cover looks a lot like the chassis hole jacking point to him
So rather than buy an old type compressor, then a bracket for £65 then a lower cover for £35, one of those shiny AMK's looked just the job
perhaps it'll keep working (noisily) until end of October

As posted on the Mikey's great write up:

I connected to a d3 today, & was just checking if the suspension software was to the latest level & guess what... it now asks you, would you like to update for a Hitachi, or AMK compressor fitted, so it seems version 131.07 SDD has the latest software on to update these, although I'm suprised no TSB has been issued yet, ah well at least it can be done.
