Problem

Hi, I would post this in the Fault and fixes section but I am told only mods can do that so.

I was driving home tonight, and when I got between 50 and 60 mph I experienced a vibration like thrumming or throbbing from the wheels, this went away when I slowed down.

Has anyone experienced this? Abnd if so what are the potential problems that it could be? Sad

I am a little worried about this? Idea

A second question what oil do I need for the TDV6 engine?

Any info would be great.

Thanks

Have you felt the wheels for heat? Could be binding brakes.

Possible diff or bearing in its way out.

I use castrol magnatech 5w-30 the Ford spec.

But best check the wiki fir confirmation.

Dave

Well I wouldn't tell the Mrs if I were you?

No way of telling till you know what it is.

Doesn't sound too healthy tho I'd get it checked ASAP.

Well if you think a few hundred for binding brakes, then think thousands for diff that should give you a ball park to work in.

Castrol here as well.
Good deal at Eurocarparts £24.28. I got it for £17.99 when it was on a special deal, but its gone up again now:

Just done oil&filter change for under £30! Thumbs Up

I also have a concerning noise around 50, but I've had it for 2 years now. Goes away over and below 50. Also agree with the bearing or diff. Bearing is easiest to check.

Thumbs Up

Do you know a good indy in your area that you could use?

I know one in the milton keynes area if it is of any help, they sorted me out 300 pounds for cash, that was for front nearside hub assembly, rear brake pads & that was with them supplying the parts as well.

I work in MK, so that would be ideal. Can you get a recon diff if required or are they a new part only?

Or might it be cheaper to strip and rebuild or is that an impossibility?

Question

Are you serious?

I am not suggesting for one moment that you're not, but could it be something so simple?

Go and check them you'll soon find out, common on Landrovers, always carry a 2 foot breaker bar to tighten, but not on the locking nut which is always tightened last and loosened first. Thumbs Up
