Sleep with your keys

so many people leave their keys on hooks by a door, on a coffee, in their coat pockets etc. I dont leave my Disco keys downstairs and for good reason.

I was woken early hours of this morning to find some Censored scummer in my lounge riffling through my mortgage docs and personal belongings, Evil or Very Mad IT even had my clothes stuffed up its top.

I would have been in bits if IT had taken my pride and joy Big Cry as the majority of burglaries are for vehicle keys these days. Needless to say I was a bit miffed But also very stupid/lucky of the little darling to break in to an off duty officers house as I still had my ASP and cuffs upstairs.

One phone call to the brothers in blue and a little foot chase in my undies Whistle and we managed to make an arrest. Long night of statement giving and a trip to A&E for said crim after falling head first off a 10 foot wall..now I dont wish harm on anyone but lastnight I think it was just desserts/Karma Rolling with laughter

So everyone check where tou hang or leave your keys at night Thumbs Up

Keep mine hidden - but to be honest - if numbers were stacked against me - I'd give them the keys rather than risk health of my family

Having been there twice, I keep the keys out of sight. However, if confronted by an intruder in the middle of the night, I think I would let them have them.

It not long ago that a guy not half a mile from here got arrested and charged with murder for stabbing and killing a thief he caught in his house looking for the keys to his Range Rover. He was later released without charge, but it begs the question is it worth it?

I keep a full size maglite next to the bed just in case, this was on the advice of the police officer who came around the last time we were burgled. He said my idea of keeping a golf club next to the bed was not going to be easy to defend, because there is no good reason for it to be there.

I've got a stair banister spindle because I'm still in the middle of my DIY
That bloke was just around corner from you Gareth ISTR - very sad - here he's moved away?
My mate left his Audi RS4 keys in his jacket pocket hung over the banister, front door not locked Rolling Eyes - Friday tea time, went for a bath before coming out with us - hears door open and close, shouts Hi to missus returning from work - looks out of window an hour later, car gone and missus still at work.
Interestingly, car was fitted with a tracker, but he never paid the subscription - but the police contacted the company and made then turn it on

I leave mine in full view. Read about a burgler pouring boiling water into the face a sleeping person in order to wake him to get the keys to his Disco. Would rather lose the car, it's only metal, and lets face it, it would probably breakdown during the getaway so they'd get nicked! Laughing

Keep a spare set of keys lying about in the bedroom to give to the offender. Not a spare set for your D3/4 of course, just some keys for something else. Gives time to find maglite!
